The National Committee, i t
its session in Washington, with
Mr. Bryan’s hearty approval,
and by the votes of friends of
Senator Bailey, laid down a
broad rule for the selections of
delegates to the Denver con-
vention as follows: “All Demo-
cratic citizens of the United
States, irrespective of past poli-
tical associations and differences
who can unite with us in the
effort for pure economical, con-
stitutional government, are cord-
ially invited to join us In sending
delegates to the convention."
Senator Bailey, as shewn by his
“forty thieves" speech and other
utterance, stands for a different
rule. His idea is that no man is
a Democrat who hesitates to vote
for Bailey.for to set upon Bailey -
ism his stamp of approval.
What shall the rule be? - Dallas

Four yerrs ago Senator Bailey
expressed himself as being
averse to being a delegate to the
National Convention because, ao
ho declared, such preferment
should be bestowed upon faith-
ful Democrats who had not been
otherwise honored by the party.
Now, solely in order to prove
himself the master of the party
and of the people of Texas, in
spite of the great wrong he has
done the people, he proposed to
violate the very principal of fair
dealing which, according to his
own words, he himself aproves.
