month. The little girl was christened
Nancy Ann. She was born in Beeville
at the home of Mrs. Burke’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Burke.

Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Breedlove were
in Houston last Sunday and Monday
visiting with friends.
The many friends of Mrs. Clay
Murphy will be sorry to learn that
she has been confined to her home
with measles, but is recovering.
Miss Marie Helen Adler spent the
week-end as the house guest of the
Misses Marjorie and Ann John Mc-
Donald of Victoria.
Mrs. M. F. Lambert spent the past

cent week-end in Wharton, the guest
of Mrs. Frank Shannon, Sr. Miss
Williams was accompanied there by
Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson, who were
en route to Crockett, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Heard spent
Monday with Mr. Heard’s father,
Holmes Heard, who is convalescing
at a hospital in San Antonio.
Mrs. A. T. Jackson was in Corpus
Christi from Monday through Thurs-
day of last week attending her daugh-
ter, little Miss Billy Jean, who was
suffering from an attack of measles.
Billy Jean was at the home of Mrs.
Robert Collier during her illness.
John L. Cooke, superintendent, and
. Mrs. Lottie Hackler, Miss Louise
| Black and Miss Jewel Gunter, mem-
: bers of the teaching staff, were
among the representatives of the Re-
fugio public school system who at-
tended the regional meeting of the
Interscholastic League in Kingsville
on Friday and Saturday of last week.
Mrs. Lokey Huddleston and Mrs. L.
Burris accompanied the former’s
mother and sister, Mrs. L. Castell
and Mrs. Beulah Ballard, to Yoakum
last Saturday evening. Mrs. Castell
and Mrs. Ballard had been the house
guests of Mrs. Huddleston during the
past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chesser left Mon-
day for Alice, where they expect to
make their home.
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Hester spent
Sunday and Monday in Houston, Mr.
Hester attending to business.
Mr. and Mrs. William Baumgartner
and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Baumgartner
and children and Mrs. Iris Clarkson
motored to Corpus Christi Sunday
afternoon.
Mrs. F. F. Munsch and daughter
of Woodsboro were visiting friends
here Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Adler and Miss

Adler Ranch with homefolks.
Dennis Adler of McFadden attend-
ed the ball game here last Wednes-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Brundrett ac-
companied Mrs. Sadie Brundi’ett to
her home in Rockport Tuesday. Mrs.
Brundrett has been visiting here at
her son’s home.
Miss Patsy Adler and Miss
Frankie Lee Risher spent the week-
end at the Adler Ranch at Victoria.
Miss Frances Moss, Miss Esther
Rea, Mrs. Lee Moss and Basil Moss
spent from Friday to Sunday in San
Antonio attending the Battle of Flow-
ers.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Jones spent the
latter part of last week in San An-
tonio, where they attended the an-
nual meeting of the South Texas
Press Association and the Battle of
Flowers.
Mr. and Mrs. Blue Albreicht and
Mrs. F. Jecker of Goliad attended the
ball game here Sunday and were
guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Adler.
R. A. Wolfe of Houston was a busi-
ness visitor here Monday.
Mrs. Sam Adler, Mrs. B. E. Mc-
Guill and Mrs. Nita Kay were shop-
ping in Corpus Christi Friday.
Mrs. R. L. Warren and daughter,
Miss Gordan, passed through our city
Tuesday en route to Victoria.
C. J. Reilly was in San Antonio last
Friday and Saturday on a business
mission.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Shay are leav-
ing tomorrow, April 28, for San An-
tonio, to visit with their daughters,
Miss Mary Agnes and Miss Josephine,
who are attending school in that city.
They will be accompanied by their
other children, Gladys, Rita and Wal-
lace.
Mrs. J. T. Vance is in Temple at
this time attending her father-in-law,
Dr. J. R. Vance of Stanton, who is
seriously ill.
Mrs. Rose Lambert and Miss Una
West left Wednesday for San An-
tonio, where they visited friends and
attended to business for several days.
Mrs. Phillip G. Young returned to
Refugio last Monday after spending
two weeks in Beeville at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J.
Burke.
Mrs. W. Latters of San Antonio is
now enjoying a visit in Refugio at
the homes of her sons, John, Emmett
and Clarence Turman.
Miss Mertie Lovett has as her
guest this week Miss Alma Jones of
Houston.
Miss Mertie Lovett gave a swim-
ming party at Bayside Sunday eve-
ning. Included in the party were:
Mrs. Mattie Linney, R. B. Jones, his
daughter, Miss Alma Jones; Misses
Fairalander Roell, Henrietta Thi-
doux, Katherine Mauser, Sibyl Nel-
son, Violet O’Donnell, Iola Nye, Car-
roll Mauser and Gordan Swanson.
R. N. Reno left Tuesday evening
for Houston on a business trip.
“Red” Greenwood left Sunday eve-
ning to visit with his family in Alvin,
returning Tuesday.
T. W. Linney and family have been
confined with the measles. Mrs. Jes-
sie Mae Petty is rapidly recovering.
Henry Reams, recently of Wichita
Falls, arrived in Refugio last week to
take charge of the local office of the
National Supply Company.
R. H. (Dick) Wood, who divides
his time about equally between Refu-
gio and San Antonio, is spending this
week here.
Mrs. H. P. McDaniel, Mrs. Dan Fox,
Mrs. J. E. Shay and Miss Mary
Strauch enjoyed the past week-end at
Riviera. They were guests of Mrs.
Shay’s daughter, Mrs. Leonard Huff.
Mr. and Mrs. Locke Adkins and
daughter of Beeville visited in the
home of Wilson Heard, Sr., this recent
week-end.
Miss Jamie Lambert and Miss
Grace Ryals were guests the first of
this week of relatives in San Antonio.
Mrs. Lee Moss, Miss Frances Moss
and Basil Moss were guests during
the past week-end of relatives in San
Antonio.
Charles Regan of Houston was here
the past week-end to visit with Mrs.
Regan and other relatives.
Mrs. Nora Clarkson had as her
guests over the week-end Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Fox of McFadden and Mrs.
Addie Bassett of Houston.
Mrs. Carl Baumgartner and chil-
dren and Mrs. William Baumgartner
were shopping in Corpus Christi Sat-
urday.

a severe attack of measles, from
which she has suffered for the past
two weeks.
Mrs. Emil Hausmann and Mrs.
Julia Low spent last Friday in Cor-
pus Christi on business.
