Cities receive sales tax
A total of 1,034 Texas cities

tax rebates for the August allot-
ment, according to Bob Bullock,
state comptroller.
The Aug. 5 payments pushed the
city rebates for this year to $575.6
million, down 6.7 percent over
yearly payments to date during 1967.
Alto received $4,950.62 for the
payment period ending July 31. This
figure compares to the $4,602.96 paid
to the city during a comparable time
period for last year.
The total paid to Alto to date is
$27,063.10, down from the $27,782.66
paid to the city by the same time last
year. The city shows a loss of 2.52
percent. Cuney received $3,818.05,
down from the $4,602.98 last year.
Total for the year is $23,370.09, com-
pared to $21,692.46 in 1966.
Jacksonville received $92,209.26
for the August allotment. This figure
compares to $101,119.80 earned last
year during a comparable time
period.

ate is $587,237.45, down from the

same time period last year. The city
showed a loss of 6.59 percent during
the current reporting period. New
Summerfield received $445.01, down
from the$1,155.03 last year. Total for
the year is $3,210.08, down 17.6 per-
cent from the $3,895.94 in 1986.
Rusk received $18,482.45 for the
time period ending July 31. This
figure compares to the $18,173.36
paid to Rusk during the same time
period last year.
The total paid to the city so far in
1987 is $101,903.06, down from the
$106,595.20 paid to Rusk last year.
The loss for this time period is 4.40
percent.
Wells received a check for
$1,657.71, up from the $1,394.45
received by the city for the same
time period last year. The City of
Wells has received a total of
$9,991.70 for the year-to-date
payments, compared to $9,148.73
received in the sales tax rebates for
the same time period last year for a
9.21 percent gain.

completed basic training at Fort

justice, first aid, and Army history
