this county by strike sympathizers
Engineer Moeherman of Indianapolis
and rireman Pleck of Matnon were
buried utder the wreck and Instantly
killed Their bodies were crushed Into
an unrecognizable mass The engine
baggage car express car and the day
coach are plied in the ditch a broken
mats The train was running at a
high rate of speed when with a quar-
ter of a mile of Fontanel it dashed Into
a misplaced switch The crash waa
heard by the sheriff and deputy mar-
shals who had been at the scene of
trouble all day A number of others
also heard the crash and rushed to the
scene of the disaster The wreck Is
undoubtedly the w ork of a lawless
mob of ml new that had possession of
Pontanet all day yesterday and stop-
ped and side tracked five IJlg Pour
freight trains during the day to show
sympathy for the railroad ntrlkers
The trouble was so threatening that
Sheriff Stout of this county and sev-
eral deputies went to Fontanel yester-

3118 three and a half miles routh of
Enid was blown up completely wreck-
ing the bridge and a freight train of
thirteen cars went down with the
bridge I again ask you to protect tha
company and Its property against these
outlaws and If the local authorities
cannot afford protection It seems to
me that President Cleveland ought to
be asked to send troops there
