Ryan High School
Ryan High receives
national recognition
Ryan High School was re-
cently recognized by the
National Association of Secon-
dary School Principals for its
work on a student video in
honor of the association’s Na-
tional Principals Month Video
Contest.
Ryan High was one of three
schools across the country to be
selected as a winning entry and
had its video showcased on the
association’s YouTube channel,
the organization’s website and
SchoolTube.com.
For its efforts, Ryan High
was also awarded a $200 Best
Buy gift card for future video
projects.
The video was a project of
the student council, with sever-
al students taking on roles of
videographer, editor and pro-
ducer to complete the assign-
ment.
In the video, Ryan students,
faculty and staff provide first-
hand examples of why Vernon
Reeves, the school principal,
should be considered “the best”
principal in the country.
Sam Deleon and Elly Dear-
man served as project man-
agers to ensure its completion,
but it was a joint effort of the
student council and Ryan staff
to make it happen, said student
council sponsor Kim Burns.
“What’s great about this is
that the kids didn’t do this for
any recognition, they just want-
ed to do it so Mr. Reeves would
see what the students and staff
think of him,” said Burns. “We
think he’s the best so why not
share it with everyone else?”
