THE FIRST CHRISTMAS GtpT
Oh; gladden the hearts of the chil-
dren today,
And with gifts your affections now
show;
As you think of the gift that was
given to man
By the Father long ago.
Oh, lighten the hearts of the dear
ones with love,
And in this way your gratitude
show,
For the glorious gift that was given
to man,
By the Father long ago.
'Tis a time now of “Peace on earth,
good will toward man,”
And with these let your counten-
ance glow;
Atf you think of the gift that was
given to man,
By the Father long ago.
Now gather the little ones into your
home,
'Round the hearth sweet affection
bestow;
As you think of the gift that was
given to man,
By the Father long ago.
Tell them of Jesus, the “mighty to
save,”.
He who died to j redeem us from
woe. *
He’s the wonderful gift that was
given to man,
By ,our Father long ago.
Still that gift is the same, even down
to our day.
Naught on earth can its worth
overthrow.
’Tis the same precious gift that was
given to man,
By our Father long ago.

LEAP YEAR PARTY.
The home of Miss Myrtle Madden
was open to the Bachelor Maids on
Friday evening of last week. The
Occasion was a leap year party, in
which half of the young ladies posed
as young men.
The game for the evening was an
initial contest, each question being
answered with the uauie of a famoi
man. Misses Clyde Lowrie and Helen
Woody having answered the most,
cut for the prize. Miss Lowrie, the
fortunate one, received a hand-
painted hair receiver and hat pin
holder. To Miss Nora Hooks fell the
consolation—a “.snake.”
A very interesting feature of the
evening was w?aen Miss Madden, as-
sisted by Miss Kate Fairman, served
delicious Scotch pudding and wafers.
At a late hour the girls bade Miss
Madden adieu with many expressions
of gratitude for a most enjoyable
evening. X.

LOMETA GiRLS LOST GAME
In the basket ball game played
here Saturday afternoon between the
Lometa and Goldthwaite teams, Lo-
meta lost to the visitors by a score
i of 15 to 7.
This is the first time the Lometa
girls have ever lost a game since
basket ball was inaugurated in the
school four years ago.
The Goldthwaite girls were just a
little too much for them this time.
They seemed to have had better team
practice than Lometa, and when they
had a throw coming it most always
meant a score for them.—Reporter.
