SLACK CASE DISMISSED
The case of J, R. Slack, charged
with shooting a man. by the name
of Speed or Snow in his corn field
last? year, was dismissed this week.
The court of appeals delivered an
opinion stating practically that Mr
Slack had ta right to shoot a man
depredating in his field and sent
Che case back to the district court
herd. The ruling made the dismissal
necessary.
The- grand jury investigated the
shooting of J. B. Carter by Mr. Slack
last summer and decided that no in-
dictmit should be returned, conse-
quently he and his bondsmen were
released from further responsibility
in the case.
A GOOD PLAN.
Every reader of the Eagle should
read the advertisements carefully
each week, for in them will be found
announcements of great interest to
the people who have goods of any
kind to buy. Look over the adver-
tisements as sooa as possible after
the paper reaches you and then when
you go to buy goods tell the mer-
chants about having read their ad-
vertisements. Those who read the
advertisements in this paper regu-
larly are 'among the mose prosperous
citizens of the county.
