Field officer tryouts for the
Brigadiers for next year are
being held after school this
week
Next Monday, the election of
1972- 73 Corps officers will be
held after school in the Brig
Installation and open house
will be held Sunday, May 21,
The Brigadier Ball was held
last Saturday night at the Ra-
mada-Tower.
Highlights of the evening was
the crowning of the Brigadier
Ball queen and her court, con-
sisting of princess, senior
duchess, junior duchess and
sophomore duchess.
Brigadiers held their annual
assembly last Tuesday night Good Ship Lollipop.'’
for the parents of the mem-
bers.
All Brigadiers were in
group which did a dance.

Debbie Creel.

Over Texas Amusement Park.

The Chorale will present
their annual spring concert at
7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the REL
auditorium.
Admission is free and the
public is invited.
The Tempo ‘70 Singers pres-
ented their spring concert of
pop music last Tuesday in the’ ■—
REL auditorium. The title of
the concert was “I Believe in
Music.”
David Smith was the special
guest for the concert...........

WINNER'
Susan Clayton, REL junior,
placed third in the Class 4-A
University Interscholastic
League contest in Austin Sat-
urday, to become the first Bay-
town student to place or parti-
cipate in the state typing con-
test.
To qualify for the state meet,
Susan won first place in the Re-
gion HI Regional Contest in
Houston on April 22.
Hie typing contest is con-
ducted for students in Typing I
who have never been enrolled
in any typing class previous to
this school year. In junior
school, Susan had been in the
band and therefore, had not
been able to take typing in the
junior school typing program.

entertainment.
A committee has been for-
med to do “Predictions” which
are to be read at the banquet
and will also be included in the
student special memory hand-
book.
Students on this committee
are Kemberly Warren, Shirley
Blake, Christina Cain, Caroline
Arreguin, Chris Rupp and Scott
Mills.
Susan, a member of the Na-
tional Honor Society, the Key-
ette Club, and the Brigadiers,
is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs.
Shelly R. Clayton of Baytown,
Her typing teacher and spon-
sor is Mrs, Gertrude S. Marsh,
Mrs. Carolyn Francis has
served as typing contest chair-
man at REL this year and
Johnny D. Riley, Jr., is busi
ness education chairman.
COSMETOLOGY
Several members of the REL
cosmetology department at-
tended the Stave Meeting of the
Vocational Industrial Clubs of
America, held April 21 and 22
in Dallas,
REL students entered eight
exhibits in the meet.
A superior first place rating
was given to Linda Badgett for
a combout of a long fall.
Linda is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. H. R. Badgett.
Receiving an excellent sec-
ond place rating were Patsy
Eastman, for a wet set; Kay
Bums, for a wet set; Kathleen
Crawford, for a combout of a
cascade; Kathleen Hayles, for
her notebook, and Linda Bad-
gett, for her notebook
Patsy is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. Eastman,
Kay is the daughter of Mr
and Mrs. F. M. Bums.
Kathleen Crawford is the
daughter of Mrs. Helen Craw-

School
The seventh grade cheer-

The eighth grade cheerlead-
ers will be Terri Buchanan,
Christi Gentry, Caroline
Walmsley and Lisa Gerace.
At the tryout assembly, the
eight cheerleaders for this year
received corsages.

meet.
Reginald Cunningham, a
seventh grader placed first in
his division with a time of eight
minutes and forty seconds in
running one and a half miles,
Placing fourth in the seventh
grade division was Richard
Auzenne
In the eighth grade division,
Reginald Matthews placed sec-
ond.
In the sixth grade, Durward
McGinty placed first.

There was a tumbling show
held in the auditorium during
homeroom Tuesday presented
by the Physical Education De-
partment at HJS,
