Issam, a native of Syria, will
be at Lee College for two years
taking automotive and other
basic courses.
At 23, Issam has had a broad
Scholastic background. Born in
Damascus, Syria, he attended
school for two years in Syria,
five years in Lebanon and four
Issam, upon completion of
his studies here, will return to
Kuwait to work in the “largest
two-level service operation in
the world” at the giant General
Motors dealer-distributor
facility.
Issam’s brother-in-law owns
the company which handles all
General Motors lines except
Buick and GMC truck.
Issam hopes to learn the

AITKIN, Minn. (AP) - El-
mer “Bud” Wilke has sold his
fire engine pumper and tanker
for $8,400, and with that, Min-
nesota loses its only private
fire department. ,»•
Wilke, who has protected 11
townships near Aitkin for 16
years, has sold the equipment
to the village of Aitkin.
Wilke got started as a fire
fighter after he heard people
talk about the lack of fire pro-
tection in rural areas. He
signed up customers at $6.50 a
year and bought equipment for
$16,000. .

fer to a senior college for a
bachelor’s degree. At present
applied science degree from
Lee College.
This semester, Issam is
taking 21 hours of college Work
including courses in the
automotive field, mathe-
matics, German, English and
psychology. He lives at 510%
W. Republic.
Issam speaks three
languages fluently — German,
Arabic and English and is
adapting to French.
He served time in the Ara-
bian Army and considers that
the best school he has had in
his life — “They teach you
decipline and to think about
yourself,” he said.
Issam says he thinks a great
deal about the future and his 1
main objective in life is to
prove himself.
