Basketball Teams
Congratulated
Every student and teacher, as
well as th<- patrons of our
school, are proud of the accomp-
lishments of our hoys’ and girls’
basketball teams. Doth have
been in the winning columns on
the scoreboards. We are proud
of their scores, hut we are much
prouder of the appearance and
I actions of the members of the
teams.
.. , . , , , Investigate the lists of A and I
sped over the two-day holiday |R KtU(Jents in our hlgh schooI;
brought on by the snow. Of there you will find the names
course, that means two more I of the boys and girls who playj
days will have to be made up j basketball. When there is aj
. . . Jo Turner obtained a dia- chore to l>e done in a class, |
mond for her left hand during look over the volunteers. They
the holidays . . , This is about are ball players. Who gets his
the time of year that rings be- or her lessons in in study
gin popping up all over the hall and always hands papers
campus . . . Congratulations to ! in on time? The members of the
Mona Ix)tt who was elected I bull teams are always among
"February Friendliest” by the! the group. Who shows his ori
homemakers . . . Six weeks
tests had to lie postponed until
Monday and Tuesday . . . Hilly
Daniel, are you still wondering
about the chicken7 . . . Donald
Mortimer, Gary McConnico and
Johnnie Mirtze were busily con-
structing a rabbit last Monday
her sportsmanship in the class-
room as well as on the ball
court? The basketball girls and
boys do.
There are many rules observ- j
ed by the players that all of us
notice and appreciate. Go to a
ball game needing a hair cut?
. . . Jeane Daniel and Carolyn I Not our boys! Wear sloppy
clothes to an out-of-town game?
Not the Fairfield Eagles! Go to
a ball game with hair in curl-
ers? Not Coach Willis’ nine.
Want to wear slacks to a game?
Nope, can’t go dressed like that.
Girl basketball players must be
dressed as young ladies and con-
duct themselves as such.
Work as a team? Sure they
do. Moth boys and girls may
quibble over trifles among them-
selves but when the referee’s
whistle blows for a game to
start, they are all welded into
one for old FHS.
Sure, we art* proud of them
when they win, but we are
equally proud of them when
they lose. The hoys and girls
are good losers as well as grate-
fid and happy winners. That
quality shows good sportsman-
ship and our boys and girls are
good sports.
