Mr. and Mrs. Simmons were
married December 27, 1P11. at
Willard. They have resided in
Mi \ia about 35 years Mrs. Sim
moils is the former Cara Mc-
Neil. He is a retired railroad
employee and a deacon in the
First Baptist Church.
Mr. Simmons, who was born
and reared in Freestone Coun-
ty. had his first railroad ex-
perience on the Fort Worth and
Denver in Mil and started his
47-year career with the South-
ern Pacific in July, 1913. He
worked w ith this line at Farrar,
(iroosbeek, Mexia. Kosst
Persnnville when it was a thriv
ing town. He retired December
11, Mail.
Mi. Simmons is a brother of
Mrs. O. B L'tlev Si of Fairfield
and Mrs E. K. Hardie of
Teague.
The gold motif will be used
in decorations for the reception
appropriate to the golden wed-

highlights of last year in Fair-
fleld and Freestone County, but
many local people were in-
volved and many Interesting
and important happenings were
recorded.
With the coming of the new
year, the time is at hand to for-
get last year’s accomplishments
and failures and look to the
future to try to do more and do
it better for our city and coun-
ty, as well as state and nation.
We only hope that 1962 will
close a more prosperous and a
happier year for you than did
1961.
