Texas Military-
Bases Due
for Projects
WASHINGTON (AP) - Fif-
teen military bases in Texas
will receive *185 million for
construction projects if the mil-
itary construction budget ap-
proved by Congress is signed
into law by President Ford.
The announcement of the
funds came Monday from Sen.
John Tower, R-Tex.
The construction projects are
on 11 Air Force bases, three
Army bases and a naval air
station, Tower said.
The appropriation, approved
by the Senate Monday, was
$936 million less than Presi-
dent Ford had requested for
military construction projects
in Texas. The House approved
the compromise measure last
week.
The largest single appropria-
tion, $104.5 million, will go to
Lackland Air Force Base in
San Antonio, primarily for an
addition to the hospital there
The next largest appropria-
tion. $45 million, will go to Ft.
Hood, for barracks modern
ization and other projects
