Call far -Liberty Bond* Mass
Meeting at Teagee.
Notification has just come to
me t£at I have been appointed by
the Secretary -of the Treasury
Chairman of the "Liberty Loan
Committee" for Freestone coun-
ty,; and requesting that I call a
mass meeting d? the people for
the purpose of effecting an
organization to enlist the support
and cooperation of our people in
the flotation of the $2,000,000
Liberty Loan Bonds".
It is the expectation and desire
of our President that these
bonds be subscribed for as large-
ly as possible by the masses of
the people; he wants every citi-
zen to "do his bit" in the great
war for democracy and the liber-
ty of the world. Each individu-
al who takes a bond thereby be-
comes a better and more patro-
tic citizen, and the amount of his
subscription should only be limit-
ed by his ability. Our people
should buy bonds even if they
have to borrow a part or all of
the money td do so.
Every man, woman and child
owes a duty to our country
which can be partially paid by
subscribing to these bonds. The
purchase of these bonds will
inculcate habiteof thrift as well
as love of country.
By authority thus vested in
me I hereby issue a "call for a
mass meeting to be held at
Teague on Saturday, May 24, at
4 o'clock, and I urge that this
meeting be attended by every
one who can possibly come, and
I make an especial appeaLto the
Bankets of the county to attend
this meeting in order that they,
who have been officially author-
ized to receive subscriptions for
these bonds, can explain to the
people at this meeting the plan
by which every one will be en-
abled to invest in at least one
bond.
Respectfully,
Geo. W. Fryer.

The Extension Service of the
A. & M. College is emphasizing
the importance of drying fruit
and drying and preserving vege-
tables in the present crisis.
Cans and jars are scarce and high
in price. Most fruits and vege-
tables grown in Texas may be
successfully dried or evaporated.
Family size dryers or evapora-
tors may be purchased for $5 or
$6 or may be improvised by any
one handy with tools. A bul-
letin on this subject is now in
press and will be ready for dis-
tribution about June 1. Mean-
while those who are not able to
buy cans at satisfactory prices
are advised to purchase dryers
or evaporators.
Wanted:. 150 to 200 acres
good land near Teague, Kirven,
or Streetman. Must be good
land suitable for both stock rais-
ing and farming. Give descrip-
tion. location together with
price and terms! Box 459; Ama-

John Wilson, living on the old
Wilson place, about three miles
north of town, must be some
gardner, judging from a radish
Monday. This one is of a very
"reddish" color, and is fourteen
inches long and thirteen inches
in circumference at the largest
place. It is pithy, however, and
its weight would not compare
well with its size, but the size is
that of which we desire to call
attention.

On account of the high prices
of'alt live stock foods, the A. &
M. College has prepared a
special number of the Extension
Service Farm News, which con-
tains plain directions for the
more economical and profitable
use of available feeds for milk
cows, hogs, horses and poultry.
While we are considering
economy at the family table in
order to conserve the human
food supply, let us not forget
economy in the barnyard and
