BANK DYNAMITED.
Oak wo od Stale Bank Robbed
of $5,000 by Yeggmen
Sunday Night. .
<
Palestine, Texas, April 4.-
The Wiley State Bank at Oak;
wood, eighteen miles west of
Palestine, was robbed last night
by dynamiting the safe and the
robbers secured about five thous-
and dollars, of which nearly half
is said to have been in silver.
The number of the robbers is not
known, though th^re were prob-
ably three or four.
The robbers left Oak wood on
foot, going along the Interna-
tional and Great Northern rail-
road in a westw'ardly direction,
as indicated by their tracks,
which on account of the soft con-
dition of the ground were quite
evident.
About a year ago thef State
Bank at Jewett, a few miles west
of Oakwood was dynamited and
robbed and several years ago an
International and Great North-
ern passenger train was held up
at Keechie, just west of Oak-
wood, and the express car rob-
bed. The present robbery, how-
ever, is the most successful of
any, the amounts heretofore ob-
tained not being soJarge.,...
-The burglars got away with
about 85,000 in cash, some of it
being in specie, but most of it
being in currency, leaving a few
tools and an old grip. The burg-

with them two suits of rain
clothes from a nearby section
house. The bank claims to be
fully protected by burglary in-
surance and every possible effort k
is being made to apprehend the
burglars. '

$5t€.00 Reward For Murderer.
Governor Campbell has offered
a reward of $50.00 for the appre-
hension of Clay Sebra, the negro
who murdered his wife in Teague
a few days since. Although the
officers have been very dili-
gent, no trace of the murderer
has been found. Descriptions of
him have been sent all over the
country and his capture is ex-
pected at most arty time.
