tenner Beth Ann Arledge of Waco
and recent bride of John David
Watson at Wortham, was honored
with a lovely tea shower Saturday

Junes Goolsby. Assisting host'
as were Mrs. George Sims and
Mrs. Jess Bell, Jr.
The tea table was covered with
a madeira cut-work doth and
featured crystal appointments.
The centerpiece was a striking
arrangement of white daisies in a
crystal basket draped with green
net Complementing the. center-
piece were two beautiful green
candles in crystal hurricanes.
Composing the receiving line
were Mrs. James Goolsby, Mrs

Watson.

Presbyterian Ladies'
Auxiliary Meets
In Church Parlor
The Ladies’ Auxiliary of die
Presbyterian Church met Monday
aftemoon in the church parlor for
their annual Summer Medical
Missions program.
. The meeting was called to order
with prayer by the president,
Mrs. Harry P. Bounds. Mrs. D. R,
Wimberly served as secretary pro-
tem.
During the business meeting
plans were made for the group to
sell Christmas cards again this
year. The overseas sewing as-
signment for the year was report-
ed completed.
Mrs. Alice Wright, local treas-
urer, gave a report.
The president announced that
Fall Prembyte rial would be held
in Waxahachie on September 24.
She also stated there would be
no meeting in August of the local
group.
Mrs. Mae Thomas led in prayer
for the missionaries from the Year
Book of Prayer.
Mmes. Mae Thomas, Vera
Hearne and D. R Wimberly gave
a most interesting program on
Medical Missions. They stated
the summer offering would help
to undergird the regular medical
work of the church in the United
States and West Indies, and
would help to care for mental
health needs in various stations
of Medioal Missions.
It will also aid the service of
our 56 hospitals overseas, some in
areas where there is no other
medical service.
Mrs. Bounds closed the meeting
with prayer and dedicated the
special altering to .the work done
by Medioal Mfttewfc •<.
Cold drinks and .cookies were
served by Mmes. Winterly and
Bounds to eight members.
Mrs. Mary Ann Mills of Cool*
idge is spending several days with
her mother, Mrs. M. C. Spekes.
Mrs. I. Porter and Mrs. C. M.
Bowers and Bill David of Teague
called on Mrs. E. M. Zoda Thurs-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Weaver and
children of Abilene visited the
Dan Driver home lost week.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R Rice of Wortham announce the engbge-
ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Peggy, to
Robert E. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. X Wright of Tehuaeana.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Wortham BOgh 8chool and
attended Navarro Junior College. The groom-to-tw is a grad-
uate of Mexia High School and received his. BA in Journalism
from Baylor University where he was a member of Alpha
Epsilon Rho, national honorary radio-television fraternity. He
is a news editor with The Mexia Daily News. .
The wedding will be Sept. 19 at the First Baptist Church
in Wortham with the Rev. J. D. Barnes officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boyd were
paid a viist by Mrs. Boyd’s broth-
er, Edgar Yfright, of Kansas, re-
cently.

Nancy and Lin, are spending sev-
eral fays at Lake Whitney.
Johnny LeFevre is visiting his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
LeFevre.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. McDonald
and son, Wiley Green McDonald
HI, have returned to their home
in Hattiesburg, Miss., after visit-
ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. C. Boyd. Anne and James Mc-
Donald who had spent several
weeks with their grandparents in
Wortham, returned with their
parents.

and daughter of Alvin visited Mr.
and Mrs. W. A Loveless Sunday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Keeling and
children Of Pasadena are visiting
the T. G. Keelings this week.

ML Belview visited relatives in
Wortham over the week end.
Mrs. Reagan Ashby of Plain-
view visited Mr. and Mrs. Virgil
Bounds last week end.
Elgin McLelland, Sr., of Fort
Worth was in Wortham on bus-
iness over the week end.
Luncheon Honors
Mrs. Jerry Dobbins
Mrs. Jerry L. Dobbins was hon-
ored at a Bon Voyage luncheon
oil July 9 at the Egyptian Loun-
ge in Dallas. Hosts for the lunch-
eon were twenty employees of
General Adjustment Bureau in
Dallas where she has been em-
ployed as secretary to the De-
partmental Accountant for the
past five months.
The honoree was presented
with a corsage from the Depart-
mental Accountant, Mr. Kelly W.
Parfker, and she also received
many other lovely gifts.
Mrs. Dobbins, the former mel-
ba Teer of Wortham ,will leave
on July 16 to join her husband
in Nuremburg, Germany.

Parents of Son

announce the birth of a son July
10 at 8:45 a.m. in Ft Devins,
Massachusetts. The boy was nam-
ed Andrew Leroy and weighed
7 Vi lbs. at birth. Mrs. Irene Conn
of Wortham is the proud grand-
mother.

Martha Gayle Zoda of Hobbs,
N. M, spent Thursday and Fri-
day with their grandmother, Mrs.
X M. Zoda.
Presbyterian Families
Have Picnic Supper
On Church Lawn
Families of the Presbyterian
Church assembled on the church
lawn Wednesday evening, July
8, for a picnic supper and evening
of fellowship. Special guests were
Rev. and Mrs. Harwell Norris and
their children, Rebecca, Elizabeth,
Eddy and Joe, of Kerens.
Harry P. Bounds extended
greetings and introduced the
gueats and stated how happy the
church was to have Rev. Norris
fill the pulpit as supply pastor
He further said the congregation
was looking forward to the asso
ciation with this pastor and his
family on many occasions.
Mrs. Glenn Riley, Sr., brought
the devotional after which Rev.
Norris gave the invocation.
A delicious buffet supper was
enjoyed by all present. The so-
cial committee in charge of ar-
rangements was composed of
Mmes. D. R Wimberly, Mae
Thomas, John Mackey and Harry
P. Bounds.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spakes of
Amarillo are visiting his mother,
Mrs. M. C. Spakes, this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Zoda and
Katherine Ann are visiting his
mother, Mrs. X M. Zoda, and the
James Goolsby family this week.
Walter Richardson of Fairfield
visited Mr. and Mrs. Dan Driver
Monday.
Miss.Paula Btftler -will return
to the Harris Hospital in Fort
Worth Friday to attend the final
day of classes in the summer
semester. She has been at her
parents’ home for several days re-
covering from the effects of an
automobile accident in Ft. Worth
two weeks ago.

Mrs. T. B. Poindexter and Mrs.
T. B. Poindexter, Jr. visited in
Dallas Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Vinson and
son, Floyd Pete, of Beaumont
spent last week end here visiting
his family, the F. C. Decks. Mrs.
Vnison and Pete remained for a
week’s visit.
Mr. and Mrs. F. C Deck spent
last week in Galveston. They also
visited with friends in Dayton and
Lufkin while vacationing.
Mrs. R. W. Gould of Houston is
visiting Mrs. A. J. McKinney.
Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Cardwell and
children of Beaumont visited Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Galame Monday.

Ed Setter-white Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Vergie Davis and daugh-
ters, Joan and Patsy, of Dallas,
spent the week end with her
mother, Mrs. R. L. Hughes.
Locket Circle Meets
In Strunk Home
The Locket Circle met in the
home of Mrs. Louise Strunk on
Monday, July 13. Mrs. Ruby Cal-
ame called the meeting to order
and the opening prayer was giv-
en by Mrs. E. G. Reynolds.
Following a short business ses-
sion, Mrs. Lee McLeod brought
a most interesting Bible study.
Mrs. Warren Livingston gave the
closing prayer.
Refreshments of ice cream and
cake were served to all present.
The next meeting will be with
Mrs. E. G. Reynolds the lost
Monday night in July.

ed to be feeling much better.
