A gathering of agricultural lead-
ers and agricultural .representa-
tive* met on the ranch of L. C
Larimore, four miles northeast of I
Newcastle, on Thursday^ Decern

visor of the Partners Home Admin-
istration, and Floyd Beiders of the
Soil Conservation Service. This
meeting was an outgrowth of in-
terest of farmers in “soil building"
through "Soil and Water Conserva-
tion.”
Purpose of the tour was to show-
how the application of basic con-
servation plan to a farm or ranch
might be spewed up through a loan
for soil and "Water conservation
which is being offered by the FHA
Details of the loan were ex-
plained by Glenn Womack, FHA
supervisor, who said borrowers
yrho qualify for the loan may use
it for such purposes as construc-
tion and repair of terraces, water-
ways, diversions, farm ponds and
also for pasture improvement,
brush removal and fencing.
L. C. Larimore told of the prog
rets he had made in applying a
basic conservation plan to hU
ranch and was assisted by Floyd
Beider*, Work Unit Conservation

Several stops were made to Ob-
serve practices Larimore had used
in .improving his pastures and crop
land, such as fencing, brush re-
moval. deferred grazing, jjonjl con-
struction, waterway development,
terracing, and the use of legume
cover crops for soil improvement.
Loans are made by the Farm-
er* Home Administration, primar-
ily out of funds advanced by priv-
ate lending institutions. The Gov-
ernment insures the repayment of
the loan. The repayment period on
loan* to Individuals can be up to
20 years, and can be secured b>
liens on chattels or real estate de-
pending on the amount and length
of the loan.

ter loans can be obtained from
the local County Agent, represen
tatlves of the SCS or the local FHA
office. Application* lor loan* nr* to
be made at the county office ol
the Farmers Home Administration
