case, a man won $100,000 for
defamation of character. The
government tried to collect in-
come tax on this sum, but a court

money was just to "make the
plaintiff whole."
And in another case, the
money that a girl won in a
breach of promise suit was like-
wise held not taxable, since it was
compensating her only for the
harm she had suffejed. -

Using matings picked by the
breeder. the computer will

with a production record based on

involved.in any breeding program.
Maddox said the system will be
continued for five generations,
taking a total of about 45 days to
mail information to the breeder.
He then makes his selection and
mails it back to Texas A&M.
"We would like all Texas
breeders who are working with
their b r e e d a s s o c i a t lo n s
performance testing programs to
participate in this educational
effort to teach principles of
animal breeding." he said.
Breed associations, beef, dual
purpose and dairy cattlemen have
been invited to attend the- short
their bri&'d.
“Besides the ut&uai reco$iT/e4
beef associations.,- wc have
acceptances from most pf the
associations, and foundations of
exotic beef breeds and three dairy
breeds that will participate in the
short cOiirseV Maddox said. "The
information on new breeds should
be of interest to commercial
cattlemen as they
breeding programs for the
future.”
