BAND BOOSTERS MEET
The first meeting for the 1973-74
school year was held Tuesday,
September 18, with many in-
terested band booster members
attending.
First on the agenda was the
election of two officers. Lois
Bailey was elected to the position
of vice president and Rosemary
Densford as reporter.
Earlene Lindig, treasurer,
reported the results of the Ban-
dera-Boerne concession stand.
Lupe Galvan, out new band
director, was introduced. He gave
a brief summary of the activities
for this year.
The subject of purchasing new
uniforms for the band was
discussed at great length. It has
been over ten years since new
uniforms were purchased and
everyone agreed it was time to do
something about it. Uniforms are
very expensive and the club
decided to have an all-out com-
munity fund raising drive to help
supply the needed funds. A
committee was organized to select
and approve the proper uniform
Mrs. S. Joe Rodriguez was
selected as chairman and the
following will assist her: Mrs.
Helen Hansen, Jim Snyder, Lupe
Galvan, Suzanne Autry and Mark
Allert.
One fund raising project will be
the collection of aluminum cans
and products. This includes any
can that can be easily crushed by
hand, aluminum foil, pie pans, TV
dinner plates, cake pans or any
other articles made of aluminum.
Th€~5econd project is a paper
dri^e. Everyone has paper to
discard and we are asking
everyone to begin saving now. A
collection date will be announced
soon.
There will be aluminum
collection receptacles placed in
front of the old Bantex Theater on
Main Street. Anyone having cans
or paper, but can’t drive to the
collection bins, may have it picked
up. Simply call Dorotny Darden at
796-3841 or tell any band student.
Our band works very hard to
represent Bandera in all events
and does a very good job. Let’s all
work together to raise funds for
the new uniforms the band cer-
tainly deserves.
Please get together all used
aluminum utensils and waste
paper and ‘‘Pitch In”!
