[EBER THE LONG COUNT!
Do you remember the second

In the seventh
round, Dempsey

"Recollecting, perhaps Dempsey

groaa, shall, without the consent of
the other, adjourn for more than
three days...” Th^ Senate refused
by a vote of 25 to 58 to let the
House stand adjourned from Aug-
ust 26 to September 21. The House
of Representatives then agreed to
begin three day recesses until
September 21 with the House
meeting only on Tuesdays and
Fridays with no business being
conducted at those times. It will
meet and adjourn in order to com-
ply with the provisions of the
Constitution.
At the invitation of National
Commander Perry Brown of Beau-
mont, Texas, I will attend the
American Legion convention in
Philadelphia and a dinner being
given in honor of President Truman „ ,
on August 29. I welcome this a,[*r
opportunity to discuss with the
leadership of this large veteran
organization the proposed legis-
lative program.
1 plan to come to Texas by air-
plane after the convention in Phil-
adelphia and immediately drive
baek to Washington with the fami-
ly. They are now in Texas enjoying
the opportunity of being home
again with old friends. School be-
gins here on September 12 for our
two hoys, Jim and Jack, and of
course it is desirable that they en-
roll at the scheduled time.
My office in the P.M.A. Build-
ing at College Station will be open
beginning Monday, September 12,
and 1 will return to Texas by Sep-
tember 15. Even though my stay
in Texas will be brief at this time,
I hope to visit around the District
as much as possible. 1 will remain
in Texas until the House of Rep-
resentatives resumes its regular
sessions and legislative activities
and duties require me to return to
Washington.

'[“'VOLKS take a look at those bumper-guard
J/ grilles —built as a unit and proof against
“locking horns”—and say “Hmmm! Nice!”
They sweep their eyes over tapering fenders,
with a suggestion of jet power in their after
contours —and say, “That’s for me!”
They eye-measure windshields that are 48%
bigger and rear windows with 56% more area
— and know without being told they can see the
road up closer, both fore and aft.
So they say-“That’s for me-IF!
“What does it cost me to get this handy-sized
dandy with the roomiest interiors ever found
on a Buick Special?
“What do I pay for high-compression, high-
pressure Fireball power from a big Buick
straight-eight engine?
‘What’s the tag on that swell Buick ride, with
coil springing, extra-wide rims, seats between
the axles and all that?
“And what about Dynaflow Drive—understand
I can have that at extra cost —how much?”
Well, sir, the news is good. Plenty good.
Because this honey’s priced well under your
expectations. It’s a straight-eight that’s priced
under a lot of sixes—over the years your in-
vestment will be no more than for any other car.
So better not stop with looking. Better price it
too—delivered at your door. \our Buick dealer
will give you the figures, even demonstrate.
After which you’ll do as others are doing—you’ll
get a firm order in.
