INDEPENDENCE DAY
The 131st anniversary of Amer-
ican independence was celebrat-
ed at various places in Cooke
county yesterday and so far as
known, as a day of pleasure
for those seeking recreation and
a change from the hnm-drum of
everyday life it was a success.
A number went to Lindsay, sev-
eral spent the day at Woodbine
and others in select picnic
crowds. A large majority of
Gainesville people witnessed the
ball games at the park. For
these we have a feeling of sym-
pathy for the defeat of the favor
ites, but believe as defeat must
come no one regrets witnessing
the spirited contests. Hurrah
for the Fourth of July and hoping
Captain Conner may yet make
the Varsity giant holler “nuff.”
Sun bon net numbers.
The fifth in the series of fam
ous Sunbonet Pictures will be
given with next Sunday's New
York World. These are superb
color reproductions of paints.
