Lesson for June 19
If malaria is in your system,
the only way to gee it nut with
out toituriiig nnd upsetting
yourself is to take Dodson's
Liver Tone to clean out all the
hardened, dried out accumula-
tion of bile in the liver and bo-
wels, and carry the germa out
with it.
Never take calomel That’s
wrong. Calomel is mercury, a
dangerous drug, ltjars the li-
ver and cleans constipated bo-
wels, thsts true. But it salivat
ss you—makes you sick and you
lose a day from your work. It
stifles the muscles of the bowels
deadens them so they can't a
at all.
Dodson’s Liver Tone cleans
von out good so the liver is fre
to get the malarial get ms out of
your blood, and the bowels can
carry them off Before you rea-
lise it the chills and fever stop.
Malaria is gone.
Get the big bottle of Dodson's
Liver Tone from from your neat -
est store. They all have it
Keep it in the house so you will
have it handy to take nights be-
fore you go to bed.

In order to get an Intelligent grasp
of today'* lesson. one inuat get a view
of the entire epistle aa to Its purpose
atid method. The purpose was to es-
tablish all who were pasalng through
suffering and. testing (see ch. 1:7,
3:14, 4:12, 5:10-12).
The principle* of Chrlatlan behavior
set forth In the text of thla lesson are
if broader scope than citizenship.
I'hey embrace:
I. Behavior as Pilgrims and So-
ourners (vv. 11, 12).
Chrlstluns are merely sojourners on
he eurth. They have not here their
permanent home but are Journeying
through the earth on their way to the
eternal home In the heavens. Oar
heavenly citizenship (Phil. 3:20)
should constrain ua to the cnalute-
uance of conduct consistent with our
high calling.
1. Abstain from fleshly lusts (v. 11).
The term lusts Includes the entire
army of unclean forces springing from
our carnal natures. They are enu-
merated In Gal. 3:10-21. These war
against the soul. Th* Christian should
not he under th* sway of carnal pas-
sion.
2. Behavior as citizens (w. 13-17).
While the Christian’s true cltlzdb-
ship Is In heaven he has a responsibil-
ity as a citizen on the earth.
1 Obey all requirements of civil
rulers (v. 13).
Fidelity to Christ Is shown by loy-
alty to civil authority. Tb* Intelli-
gent Christian recognizes the neces-
sity of government and graciously
submits to those In authority over him
regardless of the form of governmenk
His duties as a citizen he performs as
the Lord’s free man—not through ser-
vile fear. Government even of n low
order la better than anarchy.
2. Honor all men (v. 17).
He will see In every man the Image
of God and therefore give honor to
him. This applies to all relations
wherein we touch human life.
3. Love the brotherhood (v. 17).
The Christian has a peculiar loro
for those who are of the same house-
hold. The brotherhood Is composed
if those who are children of God by
faith in Jesus Christ.
4. Fear God (v. 17).
fl. Honor the King (v. 17).
This has a peculiar significance- be-
cuuse In all probability the wicked
Nero was then reigning as emperor.
II. Behavior In a World *f Opposi-
tion (1 Peter 4:1-3).
1. Armed for the conflict (v. 1).
Christians are engaged In a tre-
.neudous conflict with evil forces with-
in and without. Satan and hla angels
sre bent on the believer’s defeat and
destruction. The only way to keep
from being overcome with hla darts Is
to arm oneself with the mind of
'hrtst.
2. The salutary effect of suffering
(v. 1).
Suffering has a remedial effect upon
lod’a children. The one who suffers
vlth Christ as an example will have
he consciousness that It IS his lden-
Ity with Chi 1st that calls forth the
■pposltlon of the world.
3. God’s will, the regulating force of
its life (v. 2).
Not the lusts of the flesh, but tbs
vlll of God Is the directing fore* of
ils life.
4. The consciousness of a wasted
tfo (v. 3).
Since the flesh has ao long had
way over the life, God la entitled to
he rest of the believer’s energy. Look-
ing back upon a wasted life In serv-
ng the luata of the flesb will move
ue to give no more time to serviug
->uch a master.
5. The attitude of the world to-
ward the one who separates himself
from It (v. 4).
The world apeaks evil of those who
will not go Its way. Tb# world not
only wonders at the life of th* Chris-
tian who separates himself from It*
pleasures, bat will heap npon him
nicknames and reproach.
6. Account shall b* given (v. 5).
The Christian should so live aa t*
be able tv render an account to God
