federation, acted as reviewing offi-
cer. Delegates then went on an
extended tour of the old Spanish
missions, the Alamo and other
points of interest around, the city
before repairing to an open air park
where a frontier barbecue prepared
by an old range expert awaited
them. Mexican dishes also were
served. Cowboy songs and negro
spirituals furnished the program
for the open air meal.
The afternoon was given bver to
shopping, trips to nearby ranches
and theaters. In the evening the
delegates were Invited to San Ari-
tonio’s most picturesque and me-
diaeval quarter, the market plaza
where Mexican chili stands, ped-
dlers and musicians preserve the
atmosphere of old Mexico.
