LONE STAR STATE PHILATELIST.
ROYAL BENNETT BRADLEY.The subject of this sketch first began
the collection of postage stamps in
1887. His collection was destroyed
soon after, and it was not until the
spring of 1891 that he actively resumed
collecting. Mr. Bradley is by nature
a collector of coins, stamps, butterflies
and birds eggs. Even to-day he is
the acknowledged authority on the
birds of Western Texas.
His collection of stamps numbers
between 3500 and 4000 select speci-
mens. He eschews all speculative is-
sues and "Seebecks," His favorites
are the stamps of Sweden, Germany
and the entire envelopes of the United
States. He also has a fine collection
of errors, oddities and mis-strikes.
Mr. Bradley has been in the pub-
lishing business since 1894, when he
began the publication of the LONE
STAR STATE PHILATELIST, then issued
weekly. He has since been actively
engaged in philatelic journalism. Heis business manager of the West Texas
Sentinel, a newspaper of large circu-
lation. He has adopted journalism as
his profession, and we bespeak for him
a successful career.
He is a member of all the leading
societies, and is Secretary-Treasurer
of The Southern Philatelic Association.
He takes great interest in the affairs
of the various associations, and is well
informed on the various branches and
departments.
Mr. Bradley is now associated with
W. Lionel Moise, of Clemson College,
S. C., in the publication of the LONE
STAR STATE PHILATELIST.
He has dealt in stamps to some ex-
tent, being president of the "Bradley
Stamp Co."
He is well versed on philatelic sub-
jects, and, although young in years,
his actions and habits are those of one
a great deal older.
WALTER C. LOWRY.
