Loan Deadline
World War II veterans today
enter the final year in which ap-
plication may be made for a GI
horns, farm or business lo*n.
Congress has set July 26, 1960.
program that has already seen
as the cut-off date in the post-w)ar
nearly 5,000,000 World War II
veterans take advantage of the
GI Bill loan provisions since June
22. 1944.
The law allows an additional
year, cr until July 25, 1961, for the
processing and actual closing of
loans.
These dates do not pertain to
Korean veterans who have until
Jan. 31, 1966, to make loan appli-
cations. World War II veteran*,
who also served In Korea, are con-
sidered Korean veterans for loan
purpose*.
Under the GI loan program,
qualified World War II veterans
sre offered the osmort unity to ob-
tain VA guaranteed or insured
loans to (a) purchase, build or
improve a home; (b) buy a farm
or farm supplies, and (c> buy or
expand a business venture.
Since the program wns launched
and up through Mav 31, 1969, a
total of 4,956,300 World War II
veterans have made GI loans for a
total face value of 839.220,608,209.

the First Christian Church of
Stephenville, Rev -Don C .Buck
has tendered his resignation to be-
come affect September I. The
church enrollment and Bible School
haro grown daring his tenure and
a new educational building has
' At present the Bucks are vaca-
tioning In New York state in the
Black Brook where Mrs. Buck's
parents live. They will return to
Stephenville August 18 to resume
work here until September. Mrs
Buck has enrolled in Brite College
of Bible at TCU to begin prepara-
tions to teach in the Belgian
Congo. Rev. Buck will be doing
some construction work during the
week to develop skills in manual
arts which he will need in the
Congo.
Rev. Buck served the Christian
Church in Axle on weekends while
attending^ TCU.
Rev. and Mrs. Buck have many
warm friends here who regret their
leaving, vet commend this conse-
crated Christian couple for their
courage and seal that have in-
spired them for this great under
taking in spreading the gospel.

the nation’s financial leaders and
