Things Rare and
Unusual
It seems to me it is best to
remember the pleasant things of
life and not go around with a chip
on our shoulder like somebody has
imposed on us. I have an idea mis-
fortune comes to every person, but
the greatest misfortune of all is
not to be able to bear misfortune.
Out of sufferings and sorrow some
of life's greatest achievements
have been wrought.
Several years ago I heard
of the fine|
known,
mercy, wisdtfm and justice to life’s
unfortunates. He tried to under-
stand the "tack in the other per-
son’s shoe.” Maybe he had a loved
one who had gotten off the
straight and narrow path . . . per-
haps he wanted to do nice things
for those he loved, and found it
impossible . . . maybe, due to the
frailty of the human clay, he need-
ed mercy. And so this grand char-
acter used a quotation by some
unknown author: "Memory is a
gallery filled with paintings rare
—the one’s we loved the best are
always hanging there.”
