NOTICE
Hit i niml i'rcz*
NISII, Sept. 17.—It was ad-
mitted in the capital this morning
that the Servian invasion of Sla-
vonia has been unsuccessful. Near
the Save River they met a large
force of Austrians who worked
destruction upon 'the small army
of Servians.
It was declared at the War Of-
fice that the Servian aviators re-
eonnoitered over the Austrian
army and discovered tha*t the
enemy’s forces outnumbered the
Servians several times. Deciding[
that it was hotter to give up the I
invasion of the Austrian province,!
the Servians hesitated about push,
iiig forward under the circum-
stances.
Tli# Austrians, according to the
aviators, were awaiting the ar-
rival of the Servians, a trap hav-
ing been arranged for them toj
step' in.
in the French cabinet, today de-
clared that the French forces at
Aisne are winning a decisive bat-
tle against the German invaders
The Germans are being forced'
back toward the River Meuse by
the French forces, who are work-
ing disaster to the enemy.
It was undertermined until Mil-
this morning whether the battle of
Aisne was to be a decisive en-
gagement or not. The exact posi-
tion taken up by the Germans was
not known at the time.
That the Germans are meeting
with another decisive defeat has
set the populace of this city astir.
Much rejoicing is going on among
the few left behind in the capital.
Reports reaching here from Paris
are to the effect that Paris is join-
ing in the celebration, declaring
that the Germans will be defeated
so badly that they will be forced
to return to theor own country,
there to take up a stand for the
end against the allied army.
Enormous German reinforce-
ments have come to the aid of the
enemy along tie River Meuat.
Their work is seme what effective,
althought it is believed that the
allied forces still outnumber the
Germans.

CETT1NJE, Sept. 17. — That
Servia will co-operate with Mon-
tenegro with her enure army and
operate against the Austrians in
Bosnia, is the common belief
here, now that the,Servian inva-
sion of 1110 Austrian province of
Slavonia has be n unsuccessful.
The Austrians outnumber the
Servians several times along the
Slavonia frontier and it is stated
with authority, that unless more
reinforcements ectne to the assist-
ance of the Servians, she will be
forced to abandon all attempts
to enter that province of the
enemy.
