champion from England, is no
little -Ml by any means. He's a
6-4 and a solid

impressed a bit.
The mob has a built-in
resistance to “dem foreign
guys.*’
They still remember such
imperfect imports as Phaintin'
Phil $cott. Primo Camera and
Ingemar Johansson.
They tend to forget such
others as Georges Carpenticr,
Max Schmcling and Marcel
C'erdan
Joe Bugner, winner of 44 ol
his 49 professional fights, 27 of
them by knockouts. meets
Muhammad Alt in a 12-rounder
Feb. 14 in the las Vegas
Convention Center and the
oddsmakers think so little of
Bugner. they have made Ali an

No Quotation Offered
"We are offering no quotation
on the fight." reports one
bookmaker. "Bugner is given
little chance, practically none.

Joe Bugner hears something

Ali, who gave up making
predictions for awhile, has
resumed for his meeting with
Bugner.
"Seven," he says, "and I'll
send Joe Bugner to heaven."
Bugner isn't bothered by the
forecast.
“I think Muhammad has
made such predictions before
and they didn't materialize," he
says. 4*Such predictions arc
numbered now. I think he feels
he has to make these predic-
tions to give himself confiden-
ce. I enjoy being in with Ali.
He’s the only man who makes
me feel relaxed in the ring."
The Perfect Way
That is the perfect way to

investigated a theft at a farm
three miles south of Level land
Taken was a spray boom off Of a
John Deere tractor sometime
during thefirstweek in February.
The tractor belongs to Loreta
Rust.
A theft occurred at a farm one
mile south and one mile east of
Fairview belonging to James
Kirksey. It is being investigated
by the Hockley County Sheriff’s
Office. Taken was five sprinkler
heads valued at $35.00 and four
presswells and attachments
valued at SKX).
