Cotton Farmers
Can Sign Now For
Smith-Doxey Services
Cotton farmers can sign up
now 'to get benefits of Smith-
Dqxey sendees.
This announcement was made
today by Mr, Sam W. Martin,
who Is in charge of the Dallas
Cotton Classing Office, U.S. De-
partment of Agriculture’s Agri-
culture Marketing Service, lo-
cated ai 1104 South Ervay Street,
Dallas, Texas.
Application forms may be ob-
tained from the Courjt^ Agent
or local ginners. One applica-
tion covers - all farmers in the
group.
Under the Smith-Doxey Act,
farmers who organize info cot-
ton improvement groups and
file an application get their
cotton classed by USDA without
cost. Also, they receive a mar-
ket price quotation sheet from
USDA with which they .can
figure out what their cotton is
worth locally according to its
grade and staple.
Last year. 27,995 farmers in
the Dallas Classing Office ter-
ritory took advantage of these
services.

attended the Greenwood
Memorial Services Sunday. Mrs.
Heichelbech, Mrs. Young and
daughters stayed over for a
longer visit.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Campbell
celebrated their twenty-fourth
wedding anniversaiy Sunday.
Out of town guests were
their daughter and family, Mr
and Mr.s Sammy Edwards, of
Dallas, Mrs. Campbell’s three
sisters. Mrs. Jack Kelly, of
Houston, Mrs. A. H. Ellis
Sweeny, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mc-
Donald' and Patsy, Shiloh.

from Sheppard Air Force Base,
visited his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. R. J. Wlllefr, for several
days. He has six more weeks
in. Mid-Western University
then getting his Master’s De
gree in August.
TWO TEAGUE BOYS
IN TRAINING AT FT. BLISS
FORT BLISS. TEXAS — Two
soldiers of the Teague area re-
cently began eight weeks of the
Lasic training in the Antiair'
ciaft Artillery Replacement
Training Center at Ft. Bliss,
Texas. „
They are Pvt. James A. Ale-
wine, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.
Alewine, Route 1, Donie,
Texas, and formerly of 119
North Fourth Ave. Teague, and
Pvt. Jack C» Jones, son of Mr.
Cary Jones, Route 1, Teague.
All will spend the first eight
weeks of basic training on fun-
damental Infantry subjects like
army- drill, rifle, machine gun,
bazooka marksmanship, and
iamiliarization with army tech-
nical subjects. This first phase
of training is climaxed with a
one-week maneuver in the field.
Upon completion of their first
eight week cycle, they will
either be assigned for further
training at Ft. Bliss in the
techniques of Antiaircraft Ar-
tillery, or they will be trans-
fered to another Training Cen-
ter for schooling in some other
army akil).
