Woman’s Club Held
Regular Meeting
In Library Wednesday
On Wednesday afternoon, Nov.
21, the Woman’s Club met in
the rose room of the Library,
with Mrs Allen Seale, Mrs.
Earl Turnham and Mrs. Gil-
bert ,Allison_iis hostesses.
The rose" rcJbm was never
more lovely than on this
Thanksgiving occasion. The
hostesses resorted to nature
and brought the “outside” in-
to the “inside” to carry out the
Thanksgiving motif.
The mantle was bannked with
leaves in fall’s lovely colors,
ranging from reds tp maroon
and yellows to orannge. On
the hearth was an old fashion
ed large wooden bowl filled
with hickory nuts, while part
ly. husked corn was stacked
near by. A floor basket stood to
each side of the fireplace, filleci
with tall grasses and wild cane
heads. A lovely basket of snow
grass also reflected in the large
wall mirrow. The top of the
piano carried an arrangement
of a scene in the woods, with a
turkey and a brown deer, with
jewelled eyes peeking from the

The guests were seated at
three tables arranged in U
shape. The officers and those
on the program sat at the table
at the lower part of the U,
which held a horn of plenty,
from which poured all kinds of
fruits and vegetables. This, too,
was banked with more of the
gorgeous fall leaves.
The side tables each held a
nest of more leaves, with a
turkey in each nest. Small
wooden bowls of popped corn
were placed up and down the
tables, for the guests to nibble,
and also add a Thanksgiving
touch to the scene.
The topic of study for the day
was, “Public Affairs,” and Mrs.
D. O. Aycock served as program
chairman in Mrs. J. O. Bank’s
absence.
Mrs. Drayton Boyd gave such
an interesting and inspiring re-
port on the State Federated
Club meet in Denton. She was
followed by Mrs. Louise Kitch-
ner’s talk, “Public Affairs Are
Personal Affairs.” Then Miss
Patricia Irwin, senior represen-
tative, took the place of Mrs. A.
G Smith, who was unanble to
attend, apd read a paper on,
“Friends *of the Library.”
The napkins, with a large
turkey, and horn of plenty in
the corner, continued with the
nuts and coffee were served by
