DR. WAGNER SPEAKS TO THE
STUDENTS OF ST. LUDMILA’S
ACADEMY
On Tuesday Dr. Wagner deliv-
ered a very interesting talk to the
student body. Since it was “Book
Week,” he brought out few points
on the educational value of read-
ing good Christian and secular
books, magazines and papers. Dr.
Wagner then took the students on
an imaginary trip to New York,
the metropolitan City of Ameri-
ca with its skyscrapers pointing
to the heavens from every direct-
ion. Dr. gave us an idea how the
city is planned and how wonder-
fully the traffic is taken care of
by means of subways, elevated
trains and the two-story busses.
The relating of the bridges, West
Point Military Academy, Hyde
Park, the President’s home was
very interesting. Every student
held his breath when Dr. Wagner
told about his ride on the train in
the Hudson river tunnel.
We express our appreciation to
Dr. Wagner’s visit and hope to
have him with us soon again.—D.

HOW TO WIN FRIENDSHIP
Friendship, the thing that every
boy and girl craves for is not
gained or won by good looks or
by wearing costly clothes, nor is
it won by trying to be noticed by
all who are around us. The best
way to win this great treasure is
by conducting oneself properly at
all times. One must be kind, pat-
ient, good-tempered, moderate in
one’s speech and conduct, thus
by good conduct and not by good
looks and costly appareJLcan one
win the friendship which is so
dear to everyone.—M. S.
The faculty of St. Ludmila’s
sincerely thanks Mr. A. Richter
and the fireboys for their kind-
ness in burning the trash on the
school premises. Several people
thought that an actual fire had
occurred and came to investigate.
Yes, there was fire, but a volun-
tary one which was well guarded
■ that not even a smoldering embers
remained before the firemen de-
parted.
The Twentieth Century Club
met Thursday in the Club Room.
Mrs. T. H McDonald gave a very
interesting talk on “Great Relig-
ions of the World.” She was as-
sisted by Mrs. Elo Wolters aftei
which followed a round table dis--
cussion of “Religion in the News.”
The next meeting of the club
will be on December 1 for a study
of “The Life of O. O. McIntyre by

As a part of the Book Week
celebration, the Juniors presented
“A Non-Fiction Party” in the
Parish hall. The librarians hope
there will be more frequent calls
for non-fiction books, because
they feel tired standing there,
without ever being taken out.
Are there any readers who
have books to spare? We would ap
preciate donations. Thank you.
