Liberty Baptist was well attended.
The Cotton Gilder family was greatly
missed. They were attending a fam-
ily reunion.
Dosha Singleton led the singing
with Louise Nabors at the piano.
Visitors were Diana Racay and
Travis Fraley of Gorman.
New officers were elected Sunday
night for the coming church year.
Lona Light foot is having surgery
on her wrist Tuesday. We wish her a
speedy recovery.
Visitors during the Peach and
Melon Festival in our home were
Larry Hight and son Travis from
Temple.
We all enjoyed a delicious meal in
the home of our other brother, Eddie.
Thank you to Eddie. Lisa, Shelly, and
Skittles.
The Peach and Melon Parade was
great this year. Thank you to all the
people who worked so hard to make
it a big success.
Congratulations to Lisa Morris as
second runner up for queen. Lisa is
the granddaughter of William and
Frankie Morris, daughter of Butch
Morris and Karen Whitehead, all from
Rucker. We were proud of all the girls,
they did an outstanding job.
Sara Bunting said Larry is trying a
new M.S. medicine. They are still try-
ing to get the dosage just right to fit
Larry.
Jamie Gilder is to start his new job
in Stephenville. We wish Jamie great
success.
Cotton and Genevieve Gilder had
a small fire this past week. They ap-
preciate the help of the De Leon fire-
men. especially their friendliness to
two tired fire fighters (Cotton and
Genevieve). Your kindness to our
neighbors is appreciated.
Remember to support your local
fire station, they are a welcome sight
when you are the one in need.
May God bless!

De Leon Nursing Homes News
by Kim Gonzales
Hi everyone! So, is everyone
good and tired from De Leon's full
week of fun? We sure hope every-
one had a great week, and enough
fun to last till next year.
We had several residents go and
enjoy the parade this year. I want to
thank all the employees that volun-
teered their time to help assist resi-
dents to and from the parade. A big
thank you to Betty Barnes for all her
time and hard work! We are also very
grateful to the members of the Meth-
odist Church, for the use of your
chairs. All of the residents really en-
joyed the parade and we're thankful
to all of you for your help.
We didn't get to make it to the
downtown watermelon slicing, so we
had one of our own. Then we had a
seed spitting contest. We all enjoyed
it a lot!!
Billie Dendy sure has had a lot of
fun this past week. She was very
happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Buster
/(7/ 'em you su\v it in
away as Knoxville, Tennessee, and
as near as three or four blocks from
the Heritage Hall at the First United
Methodist Church at De Leon. There
was a lot of visiting, reminiscing
about the school days and other
events, picture taking, and looking
at pictures. We alsohad,* few wheel
chairs in evidence this year. Evidence
of what? Evidence thpt time is not
passing slowly, and, that you can still
get to the reunion even though you
are in a wheel chair. Everyone seemed
to be having a great time. •;,
When it got time for recognizing
people who put in a special effort to
be here, let us not forget the ones in
wheel chairs. The one who came the
farthest was Ken Heathington from
Knoxville, Tennessee. The oldest
person present was Mrs. Floy
Morrison of Alba, Texas. She is 97
yearyoung. She also told me that she
remembered when there was no
sdhbol at Duster! The Oldest teacher
present was Arra Lee (Whatley)
Nelson from Dublin, Texas. She is 88
years of age. By the way, neither of
these ladies were in a wheel chair.
Dendy to come and visit with her.* Aren't we glad they could make it
Billie also attended a birthday party
where she ran into Bill Portane a good
friend from school.
We want to thank the members of
the First Pentecostal Church for ser-
vices held Sunday afternoon. Thank
all of you for your faithful service in
the Lord's work. In our fast paced
world we never seem to have enough
time. We thank you for the time you
give to serve in our home.
Betty Barnes once again came to
my rescue. Thank you Betty for cov-
ering activities while I was away
Thursday. Betty always has fun
things to do and the residents enjoy
her visits very much.
Our bingo players for the week
were Billie, Robert Wesley and black-
out winners were Alice, Wilma and
Jessie.
Once again our thanks to all of you
that take time out to bring joy and
blessings to our home. God bless.
