Emergency bids for repairing
a sewer caw-in will be con-
sidered at the next Baytown City
Council meeting June 9
The council was informed
about the emergency Thursday
m0H An 6-inch sanitary sewer
line on Bayshore Drive has cav-
ed in just east of the triangle in-
tersection This is the second
cave-in there in recent months
City crews attempted to open
the line through rodduig but
with no success In order to
properly repair the line, it must
be dug up
The water table at this point is
very high, explained City
Manager Fritz Lanham. and it
will be necessary to drive sheet
piling and set well points to
reach the sewer line.
Because the city does not have
the proper equipment and
materials for this type of
operation, if will be necessary lo
contract these two point repairs
The public works department
is in the process of constructing
a temporary lift station to pump
around the cave-in.
