The Amazing Arkins
The Alan Arkin family is a virtual showbiz dy-
nasty: there’s aefor, director, author and com-
poser Alan; his actress and writer wife Barbara
and their three TV, film, and stage star sons
Adam, Matthew, and Anthony. The five of them
came together about 10 years ago when Arkin
remarried, and with a lot of effort pulled them-
selves into a family. Now they know that the
unique closeness they have acheived was well
worth any struggle. The kids say their involve-
ment in show business, as well as their feeling
of belonging, can be attributed to their parents
quiet guidance and influence. Says Alan: "We’ll
work hard getting along. None of us like it when
another family member isn’t happy.” That’s the
working philosophy of the amazing Arkin family
-meet them this week.
