As religious music flowed from

day morning, April 7 during
homeroom period. The program
was sponsored by the assembly

The program was presented by
chorus and four students. Dan
Boone gave “The Day of Suffer-
* ing” and Maryonna Barnes gave
“The Day of Resurrection.” The
High School Chorus sang “Were
you There” and the “Hallelujah
' Chorus” from the MESSIAH,
Mr. Branch lead the singing of
“The Old Rugged Cross.” Billy
Frank Temple gave the invocation
and Joe Tisen the benediction,

A rabbit show is to be held
May 1 at the Parker' County
Sheriffs’ Posse Club, About' three
hundred to three hundred-fifty
rabbits are expected at the show
l which will last only ‘one day.
Weatherford’s first rabbit show
was held last year at the same
time and was highly ' comple-
mented by many breeders,
Chairman for this year’s show
will be Pete McFerrin. Show
superintendents will be F. P.
Zinn and Jerry McFerrin.

Chapter of The Future Farmers
, of America sent six boys to the
Project and Livestock Show at
Paradise, Texas, Saturday, April
9. The Weatherford group won
first place and received a banner.
Cooper Wallace was high point
individual over the entire show
and received a first place ribbon.
The boys who entered the con-
test are; Cooper and Stanley
Wallace, brothers; Jimmy Pier-
son, Don Hafts, a n d Richard
- Sharp.
* The F.F.A. boys will also at-
tend the area contest in Arling-
ton on April 16. The contest is
v an elimination to see what top ten
will go to state. They will enter
in three judging divisions Live-
stock, Poultry, and Dairy.

His heifers were two of the cat-
tle being given to boys by the
Weatherford Chamber of Com-
merce.

Presented Friday
The 1954-55 A and B Team
basketball girls were presented
their sweaters and jackets in as-
sembly, Friday morning. Mrs.
Betty Jo Crumm, girls basketball
coach, presented the following
A-Team girls with jackets. Far-
wards: Elouise Peoples, Leola
Cauldwell, Joan Barker and Bob-
by Kuhlmann, captain.
Guards: Jimmie Harris, Barba-
ra Love, captains, Joyce Golden,
Charlene Vinson, and Manager
Gay Wittmer.
Mrs. Crumm made the follow-
ing B-Team awards. Forward,
Pay Byrnes, Burtie Perry Judy
Robertson, and Jo Willis.
Guards: Wanda McLin, Mary
Sparkman, Dorothy Thomas and
Virginia Hutchinson.
Preceding the assembly pro-
gram Danney Davis was present-
ed a certificate of award by
Charles Brinkly for his essay
which was entered in the West
Texas Chamber of Commerce
Easay Writing Contest.
Following this presentation an
assembly program was presented
by Mr. Skiles homeroom. Shirley
Shelton served as master of cere-
monies for the program. The pro-
gram consisted of a skit by Jack
White, followed by Jimmy Gal-
breith, Wesley Curtis, and Rich-
ard Stevens was sang 4 hillbilly
numbers, and last Mr. Branch
presented a brass sextet which
consisted of Perry Claunch, Jim-
my Vanlandingham, David Scott,
Larry Forrest, Gail Hutchins and
Jan Terry presented the benedic-
tion which concluded the assem-
bly program.

Sophomore Homeroom Presents
Realistic Television Program
A make-believe television pro-
gram was presented in the audi-
torium at home-room period, Fri-
day, April 1, by Miss Frances
Smith’s homeroom.
The announcer, Wesley Curtis,
also served as master of ceremo-
nies on the program “High School
Highlights” which gave its panel,
Linda Merrit, Norris Stroud, and
Bill Russell, a chance to tell the
student body some of the high
points in the meetings they attend-
ed at the Student Council Conven-
tion in Denton.
Don Curbow was the disc jockey
on the Alarm-Clock Show. His pro-
gram was followed by a wrestling
program featuring Everette Bra-
zeal and Don Curbow. Their sec-
onds were Billy Clay and Norman
Bennett. Billy Baxter did the an-
nouncing and Curtis Bright was
the referee.

With Father and
Son Banquet
The Weatherford High School
Organization of the Future Farm-
ers of America held their annual
“Father and Son” banquet at the
Youth Center April 1, 1955. The
Banquet was highlighted by a
speech given by Doc Rhuman, the
guest speaker. His speech was one
describing the National F. F. A.
Organization as a football team
with each part serving a definite
purpose.
Besides Doc Rhumans speech,
Principal of Senior High Raymond
Curtis and Junior High Principal,
G. D. Vanlandingham presented
the Special award and Merit
awards.
The Merit award were presented
to the following boys: Jerral John-
son, Wilburt McFarland and Bob-
by Wallis for Swine Production.
Jerry Holder and Wayland Wright
for Dairy Production, Cooper Wal-
lace for Beef Production and
David Rockwell for Turkey Pro-
duction.
The Special Awards were given
to Jerry Holder and Cooper Wal-
lace.
Jerry received the outstanding
dairy farming award given by the
National F.F.A. while Cooper re-
ceived the outstanding boy award
also given by the National F.F.A.
Foundation.
The Welcoming Address of the
evening was given by Jerral
Johnson and the response was
given by D. Rockwell, a parent
and member of the school board.
The group was entertained by
the F.F.A. Band composed of
Wesley Curtis, Richard Stephens
and Jimmy Galbreaith. All are
members of the Weatherford
Chapter of the F.F.A.
Approximately 250 people at-
tended the banquet and all were
served fried chicken.

retiring of the colors, the school
sonk and the benediction by
Dwayne Ragle.

Mary Jane Davis, senior candi-
date for Track Queen of Weather-
ford High School was crowned
Queen of Weatherford High
School was crowned Queen
Thursday Night, April 14, at the
Kangaroo Statium.
The runner-ups, Pat Butler,
Junior candidate and Nancy
Wiggs, Sophomore candidate,
were presented along with the
queen. Coach L. G. Wilson an-
nounced the winner of the con-
test which was created by the
Track boys in their desire to have
a Sweetheart or Queen.
A candidate was nominated
from each class and the class that
sold the most tickets had their
nominee crowned queen.
