would start coming in rapidly soon.

Miss Bissett’s companion, Charles-
floward Gouge, was' fatally wounded
when an hnidentified assailant shot
them from the back as they were seat-
ed on .an automobile cushion in front

Miss Bissett. stated that she and
Gouge were sealed on' the cushion
when there wAs a soiyid similar to ^n
explosion. Almost immediately Gouge
jumped to his feet and startedjeading
her around the car, but as she turned
another explasion otcurred and'a blast
BHXyeptarily blinded her. She felt
thaf^aiie had-been struck a heavy blow.
A resident of the district took the
girl to her home and called a doctor.
The sheriff's department is investi-
gating the shooting which is shrouded
in deepest mystery.
