But because of the near approach of Christinas, we do not want you to get the impression that we have relaxed our efforts to reduce stock. Instead of relaxing we have re-
doubled our endeavors and hope to make this week the very busiest of the whole season. In addition all staple lines of merchandise will be on sale at substantially less than
normal prices. We wish you one and all, A Merry Christmas.

The Omaha Times has a new
argument to make to the non
subscriber. Itspys: “Subscribe
for The Times. We’ll guarantee
it won’t take much of your time
to read it.”
II. F. Allen touched off the
first local political gun last Sat
urday when lie called at The
Times office and handed the edi-
tor a check for his announcment
as cotton weigher. It will ap-
pear the first issue in January.
We lmd a short call from Sam
Holloway, of Deport, Saturday.
He was returning from the meet-
ing of the Masonic Grand Lodge
at Waco. In the meantime The
Times had been issued by Mrs.
Holloway and Chas. Green, and
was a healthy looking paper.
Sam better be careful how he
chases around, Mrs. Holloway
may tell him she doesn’t need
him in the business.—Lancaster
Herald.
The madame editor of the
Herald is a militant suffragette,
hence the above.
f
Texas fed .herself in 1915 and
raised a small crop of cotton for
which she received a good price.
The man who attemps to raise
all cotton next year is gambling
with the odds—weather, boll
•weevil and war—against him.
Dr. Stephen H. Grant occu
pied the pulpit at the Presbyter-
ian Church last Sunday evening
and the subject of his splendid
address was“Hygicne and Sanita-
tion.” The press of the coun-
try has for several years been
doing a great work in enlighten-
ing the people along these lines,
and we are glad to know that the
church is beginning to look after
the physical as well as spiritual
needs of the people.

Suicide at Old Cunningham.
Dave Robinson, aged about
85 years, committed suicide
about eight o’clock Tuesday
morning at the home of his son,
Walter Robinson, near Gunning
Jfatn by hanging himself. De
ceased had been in ill health for
a long time and it is thought
that this was largely responsi-
ble for the rash act. He went
to the barn, threw a rope over
the end of a projecting boxing
plank, tied the other end around
his neck while standing and
then sat down. The body was
discovered twenty minutes later.
An inquest was held Tuesday
afternoon by Justice Allgood.
Mr. Robinson was an old set
tier in this section, coming here
fifty years ago. He is survived
by several grown children, his
wife preceeding him two years
ago. Interment was made at
the Woodard cemetery Wednes-
day afternoon.
