The Texas mule, angora goats
with the mohair industry are
good subjects. The oil fields,
the growing manufactures and
the quarries and mines will open
the eyes of a great part of the
public to the wealth and oppor-
tunities of Texas.
The Texas towns and cities and
the many state industries can
take advantage of this splendid
exploitation to show that the
state is not behind the stride of
the times and that Texas has
had s part in world progress.
It was the intention of the ex-1
position officials to limit the area
of the exposition as much as pos-
sible to avoid the long distances
from one part of the grounds to
another, but the best that could
be done was to compress the
thousands of marvels in 635 acres
that stretch for two miles along
the waters of San Francisco bay.

this number will be more than
offset in other directions. Every
year hundreds of thousands of
Americans spend millions in Eu-

before this travel is resumed and
those who want to find attractive

see the wonders of the west will |
visit the Pacific coast and the [
exposition.

United States, Canada, Australia,

is not represented in this great
show-window will be the loser. I

interests of the war zone—are
proceeding with exposition plans.
Tnere has not been a withdrawal
by a single one of tlie forty for-
eign nations. There are forty- j
three states and territories par-
ticipating.
Special trains will be the rule
in 1915. Many have already been j
booked and steamship pussage
through the canal will be heavy (
according to advance bookings. {
A tourist agency in Calgary, Al-
berta, has booked 35.000 persons
from that vicinity for the expo-1

Texas probably can show more'
and has more to gain through the !

in the union. The wonders that,
