J .R. Bell, “Mayordomo of the La
Mota Ranch" was in town this weeU,
and incidentally was making inquiries
about a new plank gate missing from
his ranch. It seems that Jim had
just finished a new wire fence the
other day and put up a big plank
gate. That night a small cyclone
cut a path through that section -
rolled up the barb wire for a space
of a quarter of a mile and he has
never been able to find the new plank
gate.
The same storm cut a path across
the Callahan Ranch about fifteen
miles long and a mile or two wide. It
was reported to us that in its path
were found seven head of dead cattle,
nine dead deer, and numerous coyotes,
javalinas, rabbits, etc.

The visitors saw for thcii first time !
cattle being worked and loaded fo ,
shipment; mesquite, cacti and Jua-
jillo in bloom. All of these were
sights they were seeing for the first
time, and which they really seemed
to enjoy.
While in Cotulla, they were guests
of Miss Lizzie and J. Y. Gilmer.
They were accompanied here by
Mrs. Ray Seeftld.
A. E, Schletze of Encinal had a
