How About Starting Ex-Student Traditions
Dollar Dues
Continue to Come
It is the hope of the editors of your
Ex-Student Bulletin to send you a
paper each month carrying news you
want to know about your Alma Mater
and about each other. If you have
any news of the "doings" of any ex
that would be of interest to the group,
do by all means send it in to Harry
Hayes' office. Maybe your next door
neighbor is an ex, but never gets a
bulletin. If he or she is an ex of
H-S. U. and fails to get the bulletin,
it is because the name is not on the
present files with the correct current
name and address. The file is con-
stantly being brought up to date, and
with your help and with your contin-
ued cooperation, it will be made more
inclusive. Let's make every ex a
booster and get every ex around the
world receiving a copy of the bulle-
tin.
The dollar dues paid in are. used
exclusively for expenses incidental to
the publication and mailing of the
bulletin. Every penny is used for
paper, stamps and printing.
The new dollar pledges coming in
since last month's issue are: John H.

aldine Hill, '31, Dallas; F. O. Scrog-

has not appeared in the paper, by all
means drop us a gard and we will
gladly correct the error.

IS OFF THE PRESS
JEFFERSON DAVIS SANDE -
FER, CHRISTIAN EDUCATOR, by
Inez Woodward Sandefer, '25, is now
available at the H-SU Bookstore. The
book is beautifully' bound and de=
signed. It contains 376 pages, 26
pages of illustrations, and has a num-
ber of campus scenes throughout. The
Ex-Student Association recommends
this book to exes everywhere. Inez
has done a wonderful piece of work
in molding Prexy's life into words. Our
understanding is that proceeds from
the book will be placed into the build-
ing fund for the Sandefer Memorial
Library building. Send a check or a
money order for $2.50 plus a few
cents for mailing charges and receive
a book which will enrich your library.
By special request, a limited number
of mailed copies will bear the auto-
graph of Inez Sandefer if it is re-
quested.

As an ex of Hardin-Sirpmons Uni-
versity you are familiar with the be-
loved traditions of the old school..
Some of your most cherished memories
are bound about with these tradi-
tions, but a nostalgia for a trek over
the old forty acres and through its
revered buildings tends to diminish
as the years pile up between the
present and the time of your sojourn
in Hardin-Simmons. Isn't it so? And
have you ever given time to some
wistful thinking as to how to keep
that "close to feeling" "a part of" a,
"oneness" with Hardin-Simmons Uni-
versity?
Now, just maybe, you happen to be
one of us who hasn't the ready cash
for a new library building, a splendid
auditorium or such-but you do have
a magnificent spirit of loyalty and a.
huge desire to do something supremely
worthwhile for our school.
We have countless organizations of
"future this and future that." All of
us are familiar and believe in FFA-
the Future Farmers of America.
These lads are reared in a progres-
sive, wholesome, informative atmos-
phere and solid foundation of prepara-
tion for their future deliberately
chosen work. Now how does the idea
of an organization of some thousands
of Future Hardin-Simmonsites strike
you. Well who will send in the name
of the first member? Most of us
have children (and if we do say so,
they would make A-1 material for
students). If they are reared in the
atmosphere of training for worthy
members of a select student body in
a great school, what greater contribu-
tion can you as an ex make? This
continual educational process would
keep all exes closely in touch with
Hardin - Simmons; would keep that
"oneness" of spirit with the institu-
tion and instead of those lost dreams
of youth we would live them again
in the lives, of our children as they
perpetuate a greater H-SU of the
future-yea, even greater than the
one when you burned the midnight oil
--thinking up new ways to torture
the game little freshman next door.

Dr. )Olsen is still confined to his
home due to illness, but latest reports
indicate that there is noticed improve-
ment in his condition. He and Mrs.
Olsen were able to attend the grad-
uation exercises and present the Olsen
Medal. The Olsens are always happy
to hear from ex-students and H-SU
friends. If you have a moment off,
drop them a line.
Howard C. Davison '31, is doing
strenuous campaigning for the office
of District Attorney for the 104th
Judicial District. I do not know who
his opponents will be, but it doesn't
matter as I know enough about "Red"
to cast my vote for him.
