..There was a F.H.A. meet-
ing Tuesday, Mar. 8, con-
ducted by Charles Dsvls, a
Catholic priest who lives
In San Saba, but provides
his services In both San
Ssba and Goldthwalte. His
topic was "Morals and Mar-
riage.’’ He stressed the im-
portance of having a good
time tn one’k teen years
excluding the ties of steady
dating, especially during Jr.
High years. He seems to
think that this makes one
lose out on some friendships,
but It's all according to how
things go. He realizes that
steady dating Is hard to get
around in small tqwns, and
may not always be the wrong
thing to do. In fact, there
are a lot of things to be
considered, but in most
cases he does not recom-
mend it.
He feels that steady dat-
ing could be based on what
others are doing rather than
what is wanted. Steady dat-
ing could symbolize s status
symbol - just being in on
what the crowd’s doing. He
also stressed that the teen
years as being a time for
developing a sense of in-
dependence, which might be
harder to develop when
dattnr'steadtly.
There are also problems
involved when one graduates
and the other one is still
in high school. They may
decide on marriage too soon,
and be in a big mess. The
priest gave several exam-
ples of young couples he
had dealt with.
