Friday evening the five
lower grades, Kindergarten
thru 4th grade, presented a
musical program for the
people of the community.
The program was a journey
“Around the World in
Song.” The children all sang
“I'd Like to Teach the World
to Sing”. The first stop waa
Mexico, the song "The
Lemon Tree” featuring Vicky
Hartley and Brad Ethridge.
The next stop was Jamaica,
the song. "Ttnga Lago” and
featured Misty Roberts and
Jamie Hartley. They then
traveled to Scotland with the
song “Loch Lomond” which
featured Rhonda Rhoades
and Michael Hurst.
The next stop was Ireland
with the song "Cockles and
Mussels” by Molly Duncan;
then across to England with
“Billy Boy” and “Paper of
Pins” which featured Wesley
Hurst and Barbara Hall.
From England we crossed
the English Channel to
Holland with the song "Sa-
raspond”, then on to Ger-
many with the songs “Meg
and Molly” and "Och Ja”
featuring Sonya Harper and
Gannon Tidwell. The next
stop was Austria, the song
"Welcome to Spring” fea-
tured Gracie Maldanado.
Then on to Switzerland and
the song "Hiking Song”
featuring Chris Beam. In
Russia the song was "Fid-
dler on the Roof”, featuring
Tosha Vincent. Down under
in Australia with the song
"Kookaburra” and featured
Wyatt Keeney and John T.
Hall.
The laat stop was Hawaii
and the*ong "Aloha Oe”
featured Kandice Parker.
Derain Norwood and Rose-
mary Maldanado. The return
home was to the song “This
Land is Your Laad”. The

Excellence In Teaching at
Tuesday night's Staff

recipients of the 8200 awards
was Norma Collier of
Williams, who has taught
math far nine years in Plano
with a four year stint in
Mrs. Collier, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Duren of Goldthwaite, has
been active in church and
community activities as well
as accepting the responsi-
bility for developing positive
self-images of students in
relation to school. She was
among a group of Yonng
Women of America, whose
achievements were included
in 1972's edition of “Out-
standing Young Women of
America".

58TH ANNIVERSARY
Sunday afternoon. Fred
and Maurie Wall celebrated
their SOth wedding anni-
versary with a reception.
Many of their friends and
neighbors came by to extend
their congratulations and
best wishes. They received a
number of nice gifts, but the
nicest this writer saw was a
large franu^containlng a

different periods of their

Held April 20 In Wolfforth m»t 21
Services for Joe H. Fletch-
er, 60, of Wolfforth. Texas,
were held Thursday. April
20, 1978 at the First Baptist
Church of Wolfforth, with
Rev. J. B. Bitner of Big Lake
and the Rev. Ed Scarbrough,
officiating.
Burial was in Resthaven
Memorial Park in Lubbock.
Mr. Fletcher, a native of
Mullin, had lived Hi Wolf-
forth about 18 years, moving
there from Stephenville. He
was owner of the Joe H.
Fletcher Real Estate Com-
pany; a member of the Khiva
Shrine, a 32nd Degree Mas-
on, and past president of the
Wolfforth Lions Club.
He was the son of the late
Mr. ft Mrs. George Fletcher
of Mullin.
DOUBLES TOURNEY
POSTPONED
The Doubles Tennis
Tournament, sponsored by
the Goldthwaite Association,
has been postponed to June
3rd and 4th. A singles Tour-
nament will be held later in
June.
Survivors include his wife.
Iva Lee; two sons. Danny and
Bobby, both of Wolfforth; a
daughter. Martha Atwood of
Lubbock; two brothers. Fred
of Dublin and L. D. of
Lubbock; two sisters. Anita
Owen of San Saba and Mary
Fletcher of Stephenville; and
two grandsons.
The annual Davee family
reunion will be held Sunday.
May 21. 1978 at the Legion
Hall in Goidthwiate. all day.
All friends and relatives
are invited. A basket lunch
will be served.

Mr. Pax Corona. 59. of
Goldthwaite, passed away
Saturday. May 13. 1978 in
Childress Hospital. Funeral
services were held Sunday.
May 14 at 5:00 p.m. in
Wilkins Funeral Chapel, with
Father Charles Davis of
Lampasas officiating. Burial
was in the Big Valley
Cemetery. Mills County.
Mr. Corona was born
January 24.1919 in San Saba
County, and had lived in
Mills County all of his Hfe.
He was the son of the late
Joe Corona. Sr. and Gilla
Corrales Corona, both par-
ents preceded him in death,
He was alio a W.W. II
veteran.
Survivors include: five
brothers. Joe. Jr.. Crux, and
Nick (Little Nick), and Victor
Corona, all of Goldthwaite;
and Nick T. (Big Nick)
Corona of Grandbury; four
sisters, Mrs. Anglita Cal-
deron of San Saha: Simona
Corona of Goldthwaite; Lapp
Elizondo of Grandbury ; and
Mary Jo Galeado of San
Saba; and a number of nieces
and nephews.
