Texas Premier At H-SU
"Mr. Texas," the world's first
Christian western picture was
presented for the first time in
West Texas Thursday night in
the Rose Field House. Evangelist
Billy Graham is producer of the
film.
The picture, made in Fort
Worth and Abilene, was shown
at 8 p. m. There was no admis-
sion charge.
Filmed partly on the H-SU
campus and on the Guy Caldwell
ranch, the picture was inter-
spersed throughout with scenes
from the Fort Worth campaign,
with an evangelistic message by
Graham, scenes from the coun-
selling room, the prayer and
preparation behind the campaign,
and actual broadcast scenes from
"Hour of Decision," a weekly
coast-to-coast broadcast of the
Graham team.
H-SU students saw themselves
in action as the rodeo scenes were
made on the Hardin-Simmons
campus-in the rodeo arena and
in the riding stables. The Cow-
boy Band was featured in the
rodeo scenes. Students and Abi-
lene citizens furnished the crowds
for the pictures.
Redd Harper and Cindy Walker,
stars of the production, were on
the campus for the showing.
Outstanding music played an
important part in the film, with
George Beverly Shea and the
1,000 voice Crusade Choir singing
"The Railroad Song," "Wonder-
ful Peace," and "Just a Closer
Walk With Thee."
