Giving Through Life Insurance
When Hardin - Simmons University is irrevocably named the
beneficiary of a life insurance policy, the value of the policy at the time
H-SU is named is considered a tax deductible contribution.
All future premium payments are also considered deductible
contributions.
If desirable, Hardin-Simmons will enter into a Retained Life Income
Contract in the amount of the cash value of the policy or, on your death,
will use the proceeds to purchase a Retained Life Income Contract for
anyone designated by you. In such a case, only Hardin-Simmons's
remainder interest will be deductible for income tax purposes.
If you have an insurance policy on which you no longer wish to pay
the premiums, H-SU will be glad to accept it and decide whether to take
the immediate cash value or continue to pay the premiums. In either
case, the value of the policy (as of the date it is turned over to Hardin-
Simmons) is the amount that you are entitled to treat as an income tax
deduction.
Meet the Contributors - - - -
Contributing this month to the RANGE RIDER are Edward G.
Groesbeck, artist Carlos Gonzales, Lee Hemphill, Lloyd Huff, Clyde T.
Jetton, Sherwyn McNair, John Wofford and university photographer

Drs. Huff and Jetton are members of a memorial library gift com-
mittee who are working with memorial gifts to the late Philip Graham,
chairman of the H-SU English department. Dr. Huff is also chairman of
the Library Committee which assists in library planning and financing,
or perhaps I should say 'spending.'
Please read the information bits about the RANGE RIDER
contributors:

chairman and present treasurer of the Joint English Committee, District
VII, Texas State Teachers Association.

Information student staff writer, has served 3 years as a Student Con-
gress senator. He is president of Sigma Delta Sigma Men's social club
and a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
Carlos Gonzales, student artist, is a junior art major of San Antonio.
He is active in Alpha Psi Omega honorary drama fraternity and Pershing
Rifles honorary military fraternity.
Dr. Clyde T. Jetton, dean of graduate studies at H-SU, received his
bachelor's degree from Northeastern State College in 1939. He received
his master of arts from Oklahoma State University in 1940 and his Ph.D
in psychology and education from Texas Technological College in 1955.
He is listed in Who's Who in the Southwest, Who's Who in American
Education, and the Directory of the American Personnel and Guidance
Association.
The feature on the H-SU library is a bit longer than we had first
expected. However, when you talk to enthusiastic people, it is almost
impossible to 'cut it short,' John Wofford, feature writer, told me.Please feel free to let us know about areas of the university you
would like to know more about. We'll do our best.
Thank you.RIDER
