March, 1979 RANGE RIDER Page 7B
Thank you, Clark Jones
The Range Rider is saying goodbye this issue to
the man who has headlined Hardin-Simmons
University for almost a decade.
In 1970, the Range Rider shifted its printing
operation to Wichita Falls and Clark Jones began to
assist former director for alumni affairs, Bryon
Bryant produced the alumni newsmagazine.
Through 1978, Jones' conscientious effort helped
purge the Range Rider of errors. He laid out the
pages, wrote the headlines and set the type.
But, despite the world growing smaller, the drives
between Abilene and Wichita Falls became longer
and it became clear that the best interest of H-SU
would be served by having the Range Rider printed
close-by, especially if contemplated changes in
format were carried through.
So, with regret at ending a long and enjoyable
relationship with a firie craftsman and good friend,
the decision was made to have the Range Rider
printed in Abilene.
"We are grateful for Clark Jones' interest in
Hardin-Simmons down through the years and ap-
preciate the high quality work that he contributed to
the Range Rider, "Richard M. Styles, Vice president
for university relations and development, said.

program at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center in
Atlanta during the fall of 1977 and spring of 1978.
After returning to the Dominican Republic in April
of 1978, they had the unique privilege of observing
national elections in May and the change of
governments in August. Their work in Bonao
progresses steadily. Charles writes:
August 29, our third child, John Mark, was born
dead. The 29th-31st were some of the roughest
and most painful days we have passed through.
The Lord did not take away the emptiness nor
the hurt we felt but gave us the strength to face
it and continue living. We buried John Mark
here in Bonao which has resulted in a closer tie
to this community. We want to thank you for
your concern and prayers during this difficult
part of life. Although we have experienced
deep hurt and loss, we are not pessimistic, just
more aware of life's realities.
