By Ernie Loeffler
The First Repertory Company of
San Antonio will present its final
performances of The Balcony to-
night and Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
in their theatre located at 600
Hemisfair Plaza Way.
Tickets are priced at $2.90
$1.90, and $1.25. Reservations
may be obtained at First Rep's
theatre or by calling 224-5455
in San Antonio.
The play, which is Jena Genet's
treatise on sex revolution, and
power politics, remains as theat-
rically potent as it was when it
was first produced in the Fifties.
It juxtaposes the power fantasies
of Madame Irma's brothel patrons
with the power struggles of the
nearby street revolutionaries, and
exposes the ironic similarities be-
tween the two.
The First Rep cast features Lin-
da Ford as Madame Irma and Mi-
chael Wright, Louis Botto, and
Allen Galli as her clients. The
latter three rhapsodize about the
roles of Bishop, Judge, and Gen-
eral only to find their dreams come
horrifyingly true.

Bj/rn Ottersen, from Halden,
Norway is studying at St. Olaf's
College in Minnesota and spend-
ing Interim on a TLC travel course .
Last fall Ottersen accepted a
full scholarship from St. Olaf's
College. In Norway, he had
completed the Norwegian high
school and one year at the Uni-
versity of Oslo in Norway. He
explained that the Norwegian
high school is equivalent to the
American high school and two
years of col lege .
Ottersen's major is history. He
has found American history to be
interesting and wants to see the
life and influence of Texans since
"Texas played a part" in Ameri-
can history.
His interim course, Visit to
Atzlan, has taken him to the Rio
Grande Valley of South Texas.
He will study the culture and live
with a Mexican-American family
for two weeks.
Ottersen identifies the theater
as his second field of interest. In
Norway he was in an amateur
group. At St. Olaf's he was on
the production crew and hopes to
act next semester after becoming
more fluent in English.
This is the first time that Otter-
sen has been in a totally English
speaking country. He speaks very
well and explains that Norwegian
schools begin teaching English in
the fourth grade.
Otterse loves to ski and is an
instructor in down-hill and cross-
country skiing. He also enjoys
playing soccer.
So far he has found TLC to be ex-
tremely conservative, the coun-
try to be too flat, and Texans to
be friendly.
Ottersen considers his stay in
America to be a helpful and edu-
cational experience. He says
that seeing other areas and people
has helped him learn about and
appreciate his homeland. In par-
ticular he appreciates Norway
for its "fewer people, more na-
ture, and less pollution."
