Deer this week. All citizens

time. Today the flight over
will end at 10:00 p. m. our time
but after crossing the inter-
national date-line over the
Pacific Ocean immediately
changes the day from June 15
)to June 16 making the Tokyo
arrival Friday night Japan time.
The term of District Governor
Ryals will end on June 24 when
the new Governor is sworn in.
Public Invited To
View Film On Rabies
Dr. John Galbreaith, Public
Health Official, Region I,
Canyon, will present an in-
formative film for rabies con-
trol in White Deer, Monday,
June 19, 7:30 p.m. at the
White Deer Community Center.
County Response Urged
In 4th Of July Events
The committee on planning
the parade activities for the
Carson County July 4th cele-
bration would appreciate
anyone having entries in the
parade to contact Lynn or
Kay Holland at 857-3611.
The committee would like
to honor all World War I Vet-
erans in the parade. If you
know of any in Carson County
contact them let the com-
mittee know if they would like
to ride on a float.
This is a county celebration
and all entries from Groom,
White Deer, Skellytown and

Board Of Equalization
To Meet June 28th
The Board of Equalization for
the City of White Deer will
convene in its initial session
Wednesday, June 28, 1978,
7:30 p. m. at City Hall.
Members serving are Bill E.
Abbott, Joe E. Wheeley and
Jbyce Slagle. Values of new
property which will be placed
on the rolls for the first time
will equalized. All property
values will be reviewed by
the board.

Law School In Austin
Alice Nicholson Attends
’Mother’s Service In Cal.
fl Mrs. Beulah Boman, 74,
.^mother of Mrs. Alice Nich-
olson, passed away at her
home in Talermo, California
last Thursday evening.
Funeral services and burial
were held in Talermo on
Monday, June 12.
Survivers included.her
daughter, Alice of White
Deer, two grandchildren and
several brothers and sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Nicholson
flew to California to attend
her mother's services.
Tennis Tournament
To Start June 26
A Tennis Tournament will
be held in conjunction with
the summer recreation prog-
ram starting June 26.
There will be four divisions
in tournament play.
Division IV-boys and girls in
the 5th or 6th grade next year.
Division El- boys and girls in
I 7th and 8th grade next year
Division Il-boys and girls in
grades 9-12 next year.
Division I-high school graduates
thru adults.
There will be a boys and
girls bracket in each division
and there must be at least 0
in each bracket to hold that
^division. For more details
and to enter call Coach Frank
McCullough at 883-4741 after
6 p. m. or come by the gyms
from 8-10 Monday thru Thurs-
day in White Deer or Skelly-
town. This tournament is
open to anyone in the two
communities.
Carolyn Ryals Langston, a
1965 graduate of White Deer
High School was graduated
from the University of Houston
Law School on May 13, 1978.
Following graduation from
High School she enrolled at
the University of Texas in
Austin and received a Bachelor
of Science in 1969. Following
graduation from the University
she worked for the University
Counselling Service and the
Texas Water Rights Commission. The film will be restrictive
She has been employed by
the law firm of Dickerson,
Hamel, Early and Pennock in
Houston. She will take the
Texas Bar Examination later
this year. Immediately upon
graduation from.Law School
she was sent by her law firm to
a week ong Legal Seminar held
by the Texas Bar Association
in Dallas.
She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Felix Ryals of White
Deer. She holds the unique
distinction of being the first
and only female graduate of
White Deer High School to
graduate from law school and
enter the legal profession. She
is the granddaughter of the late
P.S. Seamans of McGehee,
Arkansas, long time Attorney
and Judge.
The Board of Education of
the White Deer Independent
School District held their
regular meeting for June on
Monday night, June 12th at
8:00 p. m. Members present
were Morris Brame, Darrel
Cathjy, Gary L. Walker,
Owen M. Kramer and Carl
A. Mynear. Members absent
were Mike Germany and Roy
P. Thurmond. Also present
were R. W. Standefer, Jr. ,
Superintendent, and Markham
D. Waddill, Tax Assessor- i
Collector.
The Board assembled and
President Brame called the
meeting to order and the
following business was tran-
sacted. The agenda for the
meeting was approved, minutes
of the May 8th, May 15th and
25th were approved, and the
accounts payable for May
was approved and ordered paid.
Request for release from
contracts were approved for
Lometa Odom and James Petty.
Miss Odom has accepted a
position with the Plainview
Schools and Mr. Petty will
become Band Director for the
River Road Schools this fall.
Grant L. Farmer has resigned
as school custodian and maint^’
enance to move to Amarillo.
The Board gave approval and
acceptance for final payment
for Tennis Courts at White
Deer and Skellytown Schools.
An Executive session on per-
sonnel was held, budget input
for 1978-1979 was discussed,
summer maintenance report
was made, special education -
screening and plans were re-
ported for the 1978-79 program
and report on the employees
group health insurance was
received.

investigative corrosion survey
of White Deer's Gas Distribution total cost of the bill of material
System. The report presents
an evaluation of the field data
recorded during the corrosion
survey of the gas system's
piping system. The purpose of
the survey is to obtain soil
resistivity measurements,
structure-to-soil potential
measurements, pipe locating
and current attenuation tests.

make calculations and deter-
mine the most efficient system
of cathodic protection to be

Thon held recently in White

of 61 bike riders from all over
Carson County participated in
the annual cancer bike ride to
Skellytown and back to the
Carson County Precinct Bam.
