to thank Joe Patek for furnish-
ing his labor for this occasion.

in the two day celebration.
This sale is in addition to the
regular Monday through Friday
livestock market, the Wednes-
day and Thursday cattle auction
and the Wednesday hog auction.
All classes and kinds of packer,
stocker, and feeder cattle and
calves are welcome for the an-
niversary sale.

the K. of C. entertained their
families to out-door eats.
Following supper conversa-
tion, dancing, etc. were enjoy-
ed. Sincerest thanks to Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Seidenberger for the
use of their picnic grounds, bar-
becue pits, kitchen, etc.
Special guests of the evening
Mr. and Mrs. Markus F. Ploeger of Yoakum announce the
engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Phyllis
Willyn, to William H. Stindt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor G. Stindt
of Shiner. The couple plans a September 30 wedding at the First
Methodist Church, Yoakum. The bride-elect, a senior elementary
education major at Texas Christian University, is scheduled to
receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in August. She is affiliated
with Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Her fiance, a Texas A&M senior,
will receive a degree in Mechanical Engineering in August and
a commission as second lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
He is a member of the American Society of Engineers.

sary of the opening of the big
Auction Building at the Yards.
Completely air conditioned this
big auction building has provid-
ed comfortable surroundings for
the sale of more than 140,000
cattle and calves since it was
opened August 10, 1960. To
celebrate the event Union Stock
Yards is holding a big two-day
anniversary sale Wednesday,
August 9th and Thursday, Au-
gust 10th. Wednesday’s sale be-
gins at 9 a.m. and lasts until
5 p.m. Thursday’s sale starts at
9 a.m. and lasts until comple-
tion. Free birthday cake will be
served to all visitors Wednesday
morning from 8 to 9. The public

Knights of Columbus treated
their wives and their children
to a mutton barbecue and trim-
mings at Sulphur Park.
Prior to the supper, the
younger folks enjoyed swim-
ming in the swimming pool at
Sulphur Park.
Some 400 K. of C. members
and their families consumed
469 pounds of mutton barbecue,
20 gallons of beans, 6 gallons
of pickles, onions and bread.
