STATE CONSTITUTION.
Article I.- (Continued.), Articles II and Ill.
Sec. 23 Right to Bear Arms.-Exery eiti-

Sec. 2'7. Right of Petition Guaranteed -The
citizens shall hase the right, in a peaceable
manner, to assemble together hii their com-
mon good and apply to those jnxested with
the powers of government for i ed ess of
gi evances or other purposes, by petition,
address or lemonstrance

ARTICLE II.-THE POWERS OF
GOVERNMENT.
Sec 1. Departments of Government to Be
Kept Distinct.-The powers of the poern-
ment of the State of Texas shall be diidedi
into three distinct departments, each of
which shall be confined to a separate bod1
of magistracy, to wit Those which ale leg-
Islative to one, those which ate cxecuti e to
another, and those which are tulcial to
another, and no person, or collection of pet-
sons, being of one of these departments,
shall exercise any power properly attached
to either of the others, except in the in-
stances herein expressly pei mated
ARTICLE III.-LEGISLATIVE
DEPARTMENT.
Sec 1. The Legislature: House and Senate.
-The legislative power of this State shall be
vested in a Senate and House of Re iesenta-
tives, which together shall be styled "The
Legislature of the State of Texas."

Sec. 3 Election of Senators: New Appor-
tionment.-The Senatois shall be chosen by
the qualified electors for the teim of four
years, but a new Senate shall be chosen
after every apportionment and the Senators

divided by lot into two classes The seats of
the Senators of the first class shall be ta-
cated at the expiration of the first two years,
and those of the second class at the e\pira-

sec 6 Qualifications of Senators -No per-
son shall be a Senator unless he be a citizen
of the United States, and at the time of his
election, a qualified elector of this state and
shall haxe been a resident of this state fi xe
yeais next preceding his election and the
last lear thereof a resident of the district
for hich he shall be chosen and shall hate
attained the age of 26 yeais

No person shall be a Representative unless
he be a citizen of the United States and at
the time of his electon a qualified elector
of this state, and shall ha e been a tedent
of this state two years nest preceding his
election, the last year thereof a resident of
the district for xhich he shall he choen and
shall hate attained the age of 21 yeats.
Sec 8 Each House to Judge Qualifications
of Its Own Members.-Each house shall be
