70 THE TEXAS ALMANAC.-1939.
Oil's Industrial Progress
175,000 men are kept busy all over Texas-drilling,
producing, refining, transporting and marketing
petroleum and its products.
All but 14 of Texas' 254 counties are now either pro-
ducing oil or being developed for new producing
fields. Many new, hidden oil pools remain to be dis-
covered, and with their discovery many additional
Texas communities will be added to the growing list
of thriving, prosperous oil centers.
With conditions favorable to industrial development,
the Texas oil industry and the men behind it look
forward to greater accomplishments in the future,
through a program of extensive Statewide develop-
ment, expanding markets fpr petroleum and its prod-
ucts and the creation of new wealth for the State and
its people.
