four-spade contract.
West must start proceed-
ings by opening his singleton
club. That lead doesn't
require any great genius, but
many players would find
another opening and there
would be no winning
defense
South wins in dummy.
Possibly he plays the ace
and drops his king under it,
but that isn’t going to help
him.
He will lead a trump at
trick two and East will be in
with his ace. Now East will
five his partner a club ruff,
rick two for the defense
Now it is up to West to see
that no defense is going to
work unless East holds the
king of diamonds He also
must realise that South Is
quite likely to hold just one
diamond.
